The annual Forbes Magazine list of the richest Americans has been published, and the Top 5 has two new entrants tied for the 5th position: None other than the founder of Google, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. Worth an estimated $18.5 billion each, they still have a long way to go if they hope to steal 1st slot away from list mainstay, Microsoft founder Bill Gates who clocks in this year with $59 billion even after having given away billions to charity.
Entrance to this years list bottomed out at $1.3 billion, up $300 million from last year’s list. While the United States economy may be a bit shaky as of late, it seems the old saying of “the rich keep getting richer” seems to still hold true.
Here’s the list:
#1 – Bill Gates, $59 billion
#2 – Warren Buffett, $52 billion
#3 – Sheldon Adelson, $28 billion
#4 – Larry Ellison, $26 billion
#5 – Sergey Brin & Larry Page, $18.5 billion each
