Let’s face it: I love my broadband connection, and I want to make the most of it.
I was SO excited when I saw Lovefilm add a ‘download’ section. They’re one of the biggest online DVD rental companies in the UK.
I was SO depressed when I saw it’s only for Windows users. That’s me only under duress: Parallels is fine, but why run Windows at all?
After contacting their support, I received this answer:
Due to a known issue within Microsoft’s Licensing system, ONLY Internet Explorer 6 browsers running on Windows can acquire a license and the security update required to watch LOVEFiLM’s digital content. No other browsers are supported and as such, may be unable to acquire a license or the security update needed to view our digital content.
Macintosh machines do not support Windows Media Player 10 and Microsoft have announced that they have no immediate plans to release a supported version for Mac users.
Who should I direct my anger at? According ot this reply it seems like Microsoft is the culprit?
Or should I picket outside Lovefilm’s offices? Or is it the Universal, Paramount, Sony and the other studios?
Or should I be upset with Apple for using their own OS and not Windows?
Oh, and BTW: This post is protected by Damn Restrictive Midget (DRM). It’s a little pixie that checks who reads this blog. He ensures you can only read this on a Windows machine (even though it was written on a Mac).
It’s a little slow, but he carries a big hammer.
