ICASA is becoming an increasingly difficult organization to contact, and its website contact page does little to remedy the situation.
When trying to contact ICASA by phone on Tuesday it quickly became apparent something was amiss. None of the ICASA phone numbers were operational – we simply received a tone indicating that the number does not exist – this includes the main ICASA switchboard.
Using the email links provided posed a similar problem. It seems that the person responsible for updating the website is either not well versed in basic HTML or has reneged on the basic principle of testing a web page after completing or updating it.
The email links leave a lot to be desired. It is currently in the rather strange, and useless, form http://www.icasa.org.za/MANAGER/[email protected] . It seems that this monster URL has replaced the simple mailto: syntax.

While the webmaster – or whoever developed the page – was at it they also replaced the traditional ‘click here’ for ‘press here’. Maybe they were addressing touch screen users.
I would have liked to inform ICASA about these problems and even assist them in fixing it, but as I have mentioned earlier in this post their phones are all out of commission.
