Yes it is a loaded term and it is early in the morning, but let me not beat about the bush here. I just came home from a nice relaxing evening out only to find an email in my inbox proclaiming agreement with an article from SAPA where Peter Svensson goes on about Internet Explorer and how amazingly fast it runs Flash applications compared to FireFox and Google Chrome. To be completely honest, I’d expect nothing less from the guys who developed the worlds most widely used operating system.
Come on, we all know they have insider information on how to speed things up on Windows even if they don’t always care to do it. The article heads out into the webosphere under the title of “Google’s Chrome lacks polish”. Now Peter isn’t an IE junky per se, but my friend is and Peter gave him another straw to clutch onto.
The bit that got my Internet Explorer junky friend all happy was ‘in the meantime, I’d recommend giving the new Internet Explorer a spin”. Yes I know it is just an opinion, but so is this. Internet Explorer junkies are ignorant!
You get a breed of computer user that will live and die beside their Internet Explorer window. You can throw utterly superior browsers like Opera and FireFox at them and it bounces off them like water from a ducks back. Mindless drones!
When will they realize that Internet Explorer has become the follower browser and not the leading browser with the latest capabilities? Jeez Louise we are in 2008 and the majority of computer users around the globe are still stuck on a pre packaged, bundled bloody browser that comes as DEFAULT with windows. It is like buying a house with furniture from the 70’s still in it. Even worse it is like buying a house with those ceramic flying ducks on the wall and keeping it there. For heaven’s sake people wake up! Just because it pops up a message saying “There is a new version of Internet Explorer available, want to download?” doesn’t mean you have to mindlessly click on it and say yes.
Give the new Internet Explorer a spin? No thanks! If you use Internet Explorer it is 90% hype and 10% value. FireFox alone offers you a million times more usability than Internet Explorer ever has. Google Chrome needs to develop a little more, but I can tell you now that there is trouble on the browser seas. It is brilliantly designed but terribly fresh. From the get go you know that Google means business with Chrome. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer department has crapped themselves and at this very moment is busy cleaning their shorts! They are in trouble and they bloody well know it! So is FireFox my beloved! FireFox is in deeper trouble than Custer was when he got himself surrounded by some not so friendly American Indians back in the old frontier days.
Give Internet Explorer a spin? Are you insane?!?? Internet Explorer is toast compared to FireFox and others, but the others are feeling some serious heat from Chrome. Give Chrome a spin for heaven’s sake! There is a browser that can honestly in BETA phase outshine Internet Explorer in it’s new jacket already with almost none of the features as of yet.
It is high time you Internet Explorer junkies do what that browser of yours proclaims to do and explore a bit!
