So, I've got 2x 1TB Seagate HDD that developed corrupt sectors within a month of each other. I've tried various methods of restoring/recovering without success.

Has anyone ever tried to return their drives under such conditions?

I have an account with rectron, so i just returned them there and they swopped them out

My drive got some bad sectors before I flashed the latest firmware (7200.11 1TB drive). It never got any more of them after the flash. Consider doing that if you haven't already, if you have trouble returning them.

I got a Seagate 320 GB portable Hard Drive which also developed some problems. Had to send it over to the Netherlands to their Warranty repairs office cause i didn't buy it in SA and also no returns office in SA. Process is pretty painless, just go to their website and create an RMA, all the details will be explained to you on their website. Their turnaround time is about two to three days for warranties, they send you a new hard drive instead of repairing your old one. If your Hard Drive is still under warranty (You can check this on their website) they will return your new Hard Drive(s) to you free of charge via DHL airmail within about a week of them receiving it. By the way, if you choose to ship/send your Hard Drive to them (Which you have to pay for), make sure that you choose Airmail (ETA 1 week) and not Surface Mail(ETA 6-9 Weeks) (To send via Airmail with SAPO costs roughly R180 - R200 depending on weight of shipment). Hope this helps!! PM me if you need more details!!

no man, any sign of bad sectors, especially on a new drive is a sign of big trouble. Take it back to the place you bought it from. they will swap it out, or the will send it to seagate.

Millions have :D

People can moan all they will about Rectron, but their warranty system is pretty good.
