It’s seems in all the excitement, most have forgotten that the Tesla – Model S is also an electric car. By all standards this is the car of the future, and what has captured all the attention is the giant touch screen that takes up most of the dash board that has all the widgetry one could hope for.
A large portion of the touchscreen is taken up by the GPS, which interestingly enough uses Google maps! This is made possible by a 3G connection that is always on.
This also means that streaming audio is available and with iTunes installed on the hard drive you can even refresh your podcasts as you climb in. Not only can you play audio off the hard drive, but the sound system also has a standard aux input as well as USB and iPod.
The Model S also has RFID features: When you walk up to the car it detects the RFID in the key and pops out the handles for you. There’s also no start button. The car detects the RFID and starts automagically.
Best you start saving though as the price of just less than $60 000 means you may only be able to buy one at a time!
