In his opening speach when uttering the words "work harder...", I knew it was all BS.
 
Would the department choose to stick with the DVB-T DTT broadcasting standard even if the SADC task group recommended ISDB-T?

Shouldn't that be the other way around? IIRC, the DoC were making noise about using ISDB-T, not the DVB-T standard. (Yes, I know the question has become moot)

Good question with a bit of a complicated answer.

The DoC initially decided on DVB-T. I dealt with the whole saga at some length in this article: http://mybroadband.co.za/news/broadcasting/16965-Digital-migration-Why-the-DoC-quiet.html

Then in April this year they decided it would be a good idea to grind everything to a halt and re-examine the whole situation, with some noise being made about ISDB-T, though the DoC itself never said anything conclusive about the Japanese/Brazillian standard publicly, to my recollection.

Siphiwe Nyanda also confirmed just before he was ousted that South Africa's choice of standard is officially DVB-T, but added that SADC had called for a review on standards, which meant SA had to wait to hear what the region decided before proceeding.
 
Have faith that Roy will respond when his luxury hotel budget is depleted and he needs more tax money to pleasure himself.
 
There is less chance of LLU being in place by November than there is of Julian Assange applying for a green card.
