whooooooosh indeed, but looks like that refers to the speed your data finishes rather than your connection speed.

I have been with neotel for a while on a 5gb package and it lasts a month just fine, and here its only the 4th and according to my balance check I have already used 3GB, WTF, almost a GB a day?????

and no, I don't download movies, or songs, haven't watched any youtube yet this month, 3GB just went wooooooooooosh.

The only new device on my network is an ipad, I don't know if that chows data? Even so, just can't see how almost 1GB a day just went wooooooooooooosh.:erm::(

I just did 21GB on Vodacom in 3 days. So it's possible. It's your fault. Maybe you were sleep downloading, like me.

Ouch!

What did that cost you?

Was it uploads or downloads?

My mate lost 15gb in 3 days due to something (posibly a virus and a leaky firewall) uploading something.

Of course I ran through 5 GBs on a weekend the other day.....

Install Netmeter ^^

I was rather shocked to see skypes uploads steadily increase to 300Kbps o_O
Thanx to netmeter going all red - I quickly switched off video

I have been keeping a close eye on what Cell C's USSD balance returns vs. my own metering application and it's been very accurate the last two months. Chances are if it's saying you've used 3GB, you have ;)

Fortunately, nothing. Watch out for your siblings, and cousins. Just download torrents 24/7.

Sorry for the Hi Jack ,just want to ask a question .

Say i have 2GB and i use

1.5GB Downloaded
500Mb Uploaded

Does this mean ive used my 2GB data??

Yes. Both uploads and downloads count towards your cap.

Im very aware of whats going on with my pc. I've gone through 8gigs in three days :D

I am also very aware of what's going on with my pc, done 67gb in the last 5 days :D. I hear the ipad has some large updates to do. It may well be the iPad that's causing the high usage...

Cell ©'s meter is spot on. Your iPad is probably having an intellectually absorbing conversation with a particularly witty server at apple. I'd invest in some protection so that it doesn't get drunk, do something it will regret and get a stubborn infection.

I reckon you're lucky you spotted it before all your data for the month was gone....

Good luck finding and blocking the data hungry app.

Almost, but not exactly.. with Cell C you have a true 2GB.. so you would still have 12MB left over :D

What protection??

What actually sucks is how we are being kept on a leash with these pathetic data caps, 5gbs is nothing these days. If an apple update is around 500mb to 1gb then we need to get with the programme and have decent limits.

Regarding my vanishing data, looks like the ipad is the main guilty party so the plan is to find wi-fi hotspots to download apps etc, pathetic though. Will also have to buy 1 or 2more lousy 5gbs bundles:(

I can only assume it was the ipad and setting it up and downloading a few apps.
I tested my standard usage without the ipad and its around 300mb a day which is just your average browsing and email - no downloading, youtube etc, so looks like another 5gb is a must, will be getting tomorrow as I expect to run out any second.
