Hi all

Looking to upgrade my BenQ 24".

Would probably stick to Samsung as I am convinced they are the best screen makers at the moment. Must be wall mountable.

Samsung B2430H
Samsung P2450H
Samsung BX2440 (I know LED isn't worth it for TVs, is this any different for PC screens?)

Asus VH242H
Asus VE246H

etc.

I would love a HP 24" IPS panel, but R4500 is a bit much. :D

Thanks!

Just curious, how is it an upgrade if you already have a 24"?

Cause its new! :p

Anyway, I also want a new screen, but am holding off since 1) Nothing wrong with my current one and 2) Thin bezels! Where are they?

My BenQ is on a mount, and it's a little bulky. I must say though that I compared specs to the Asus and they are identical. But I know there are other factors involved.

The Samsung P2450H is very slim, so that would give a little extra space. It would look nicer on the wall. I've read a few reviews and they don't seem to make the P2450 look too great though. :(

I have been enjoying Black Ops recently. I find 16:9 a little wide, although I have gotten used to it. I'm considering looking for a second hand 16:10 T260... Although I have to pay another R500 to make it wall mountable.

That too.

PP, what resolution is the HP IPS panel? If it's 1920X1200 it's not too badly priced I would say.

I've got the T240 and it's very nice, I hate the fact that proper 16:10 displays are getting rarer and rarer. Golden rectangle ftw. Not the 16:9 nonsense. That being said the T series monitors look awesome on a desk, but they are quite thick & difficult to wall-mount.

Hp VM633A4 ZR24W , 24" wide S-iPS lcd, 4-way adjustable ( tilt+swivel+pivot+height ) stand , 1920x1200 (WUGA+) , brightness- 400cd/m2 ; contrast ratio- 1000:1 , response time- 5ms - DVI+ displayport + d-sub + 4x usb downstream hub ; 100x100mm vesa wall-mountable - 3 years warranty

Can get it for R4200.

Decent review here http://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.php?subaction=showfull&id=1272354232

Anyone know how much the Dell 24" IPS goes for? I'm thinking the HP will be cheaper.

BenQ don't make screens BTW... so its just branded. There are only about 4 manufacturers of screens in the world.

Don't be silly. I'm clearly not looking to buy a factory/OEM panel/screen on its own, without the housing, processing, and whatever.

 :D

Awesome display that HP, except the stand looks kark IMO. But then it would need to be beefy if you are going to swing it through 90 degrees. Suppose it does not matter if you are planning to wall mount. Yeah I am dreading the day I have to replace my T260 as I will not go to x1080.

Yeah. Beefy stand. At least I'd mount mine.

So I could find a second hand T260 for R2000, add R500 for the mount. R2500.

Or, HP 24" IPS for R4200...

Eish.

See, I am just trying to make you feel a bit better about spending 4 and a half grand on the HP ;)

Hopefully Samsung will come around and start manufacturing more 16:10 screens before I buy again.

I agree - Samsung displays rule!! But seeing that you are upgrading why not go for the Samsung 27" - it's a stunning piece of hardware!!

I've seen them. Really nice screens. But not ideal for gaming since it would be too big for my desk. And yeah, the 16:9 is starting to irk me when it comes to games like COD. On a 24" at like arm's length + half a hand, already I'm battling to focus on the sides.

Maybe you should look at a PS42C430?

...just saying. :D
