I've Googled this and am not having any luck figuring it out.

I miss calls quite often because I don't hear my phone ring (IOS4.2 latest, not JB'd but don't mind JBing it). I've figured out that this happens because I've turned the volume down (duh!).

I turn the volume down because the alarm is very loud when it goes off each morning. It is loud each morning because I turn it up during the day before when I miss calls.

How do I set the alarm volume low while keeping call volume high? If can get that right I can use the silent button at night to turn off ringer and have the alarm ring at a not-too-loud volume.

Yikes. 55 views and no responses. Am I missing something?

There was an app called SBSchedule or something like that which could do certain things at certain times, eg I had it silence my speaker at 9pm and enable it again at 6am, but dunno a) if it is still around and if so how much it costs from the Cydia store b) could do what you wanted etc. Seeing as you aren't JB at the moment it won't help you much really.

Any new ideas on this? With the 4.2 Win JB out I thought if I could find a solution I'd JB to get it.

You are looking WAYYYY to deep. Go to Settings, Sounds. Under "Ringer and Alerts" there is an option 'Change with buttons', switch this off. THis means that your call volume will be set here, and is completely independent of the "app volume" (set with the volume keys then) used by the rest of the system.
There are a few apps that use the ringer volume as their main control, so when you are in the app, you cannot use the volume buttons to lower the volume (but there are not many, and I assume they are mostly by inexperience iPhone programmers)

So no need to JB

Thanks. By the time I'd read this I've already JB'd and am loving SBSettings and a few other extras.
