So here's the deal.

I got myself an iphone 4(ordered online) on the my anytime 200 contract. My phone arrived on Friday after a 3 week wait and surprise surprise my sim wasn't activated. AFAIK ever other operator provides your sim pre activated but not MTN, you have to phone customer care to have it done.

So I phone customer care, ask for my sim to be activated and get told that it will be done in 24 hours(phoned 9am Saturday morning.) but 1pm this afternoon my sim still wasn't activated so I phoned customer care again, bitched and moaned and got them to activate my sim immediately. I could finally make call and send and receive sms' but I had no internet access. This time a quick google search revealed that plugging my phone into my pc with itunes running would get me set up to access the net so I do this and the data access settings are copied to my phone. It was finally time for me to test out my new phones GPS capability... BUT STILL no internet access. So I phone customer care again do some more bitching and moaning and get my connection up and running. Finally I could make full use of my new shiny iphone.

Now 3 hours down the line I can't make calls, use the net or text because I have 0 airtime and no bandwidth left. I found this to be odd so I checked the statistics on my phone and I've only use 30mb of my bandwidth and made 10mins worth of phone calls... So where the F did my other R170+ airtime and 120mb bandwidth go:twisted: Just got off the phone with mtn's customer service again and they can't help me because their "system isn't update" and I have to phone back in 2 hours.

If anyone has experienced airtime and bandwith disappearing please advise as to what you did to sort the problem out. Thanks.

I find it amazing how people can bitch about nothing at all..

1. The activation needs to be done by you as confirmation of 2 things: . You received the package . You confirm that the sim you recieved is the same one as dispatched.

2. The activation happens on the billing system, which then goes through to the network system. It normally takes about 5 minutes or so. However in the odd occassion the migration to the network system can fail due to a bottle neck. Obviously the person that activated it to begin with will have no idea of this failure since he only activated with you on the line. The error report is generated but processed in a different department all together. They don't work on Weekends.

3. When you phoned in the second time, the person you moaned/bitched at noticed that the failure happened and got someone with network access to activate it live on the network system since your SIM was already loaded on the billing system.

4. This "Airtime" you are referring too I assume would be pro-rated since you only received your phone on the 9th ?

Now, relax a bit. Maybe sit down have a beer. And stop bitching/moaning at people on a Sunday?

O wait, you got yourself an iPhone... That explains it all :D

LOLZ. galaxy s + cellc data sim is all you'll ever need. (did you know the galaxy S can be a wireless hotspot for up to 5 devices)
