Vodacom clueless on HTC Desire Z

Vodacom seems to have no idea about this phone.

Initial reactions were "what phone?" This was as recently as 2 months ago - at various Vodashops.

Now they seem to have caught up on the phone, but it is impossible to get a date when it will be available. Dates given to me differ from when you call or email or go into a shop.

I have now had definite dates being the 14th, 20th, 26th and now the 31st. Every time you call it is just a bit later.

When will Vodacom have this phone available?

The Nashua shop right next to the Vodashop (Centurion) has the phone. Why do Vodacom struggle to get it?

It was supposed to have arrived at Vodacom Warehouse on the 26th, but it seems like it has in fact been shifted to the 31st of Jan now. There can be a number of things that can cause this. Delay in flight arrivals, customs keeping the shipment back etc etc.

Best thing you can do is make sure that the shop where you want to do your upgrade or new contract has the phone on back order for you so long so that there is no extra delays. As soon as the stock has been booked in at warehouse they will dispatch it to the store.
 
So the 31st has come and gone. Guess what? No phones.

Now I am told that they cannot order the phones.

Can someone please give me accurate information on this?

This phone is in stock in the warehouse. If the store tells you they cant order it then tell them to stop talking k@k.

uFiS, is there a Vodashop in Irene Mall? Then I'd go there & tell them that Ockie Tiktokkie says there is stock in the warehouse.

I remember the Vodahop at Southdowns centre was not very good.

*Or why not phone Vodacom Direct? They'll deliver the phone at your office or home.

Thank you. I eventually got through to a Vodashop which said they will hold a couple for me.

That said, I will never use the Vodashop in Centurion again. Pathetic service, rude people and just a *** experience.
 
So I go to the Vodashop (that informed me over the phone that the phone is available at their store), all excited, with my 38 week pregnant wife in tow (she after all has to see if she likes the phone), only to be informed that they do not have the phone on their list. WTF!?

So after repeatedly telling the woman on the other side of the desk that I called to this shop and was told I could come get my phone, checking that the number I called was indeed that shop's number she eventually grabs the manager to come have a chat to me.

Turns out that the phone is not priced and packaged yet. So they have no idea how much to ask me to pay for the phone. Again WTF!? I was told I could pick up the phone, but now it seems I can not.

The manager guy (I must put more effort into getting and remembering names) did go to some effort to try and accommodate me, but could only get me pricing on one contract package (he called somewhere else to get this specially for me) before it turned to 5pm and the other office closed. So I could not compare different packages and pricing etc and ended up not taking a phone. Now I have to wait until the 7th when the official pricing comes out. Lets hope that this date pans out.

Thank you to the manager guy for your effort. (and to ocleroux for your input)
But FY to all the rest of Vodacom/Vodashop staff that has no clue and took no effort to give me accurate information.

I dont know what their problem is. We have functionalitly on our system to creat deals for cases like this. If a phone is released in the middle of a deal run for example, we can creat our own deals on the system.

Is this the same system that runs on the terminals at Vodashops?

Either way, if MTN or CellC can get me this phone before next week I will be changing providers. I am well aware that I may get the same crap service elsewhere, but I have just had enough of Vodacom's crap. My previous 2 upgrades also did not go smoothly.

All you need is a clued up guy/gal at the Vodashop. Wish I could introduce you to my man at Cellucity, V&A Waterfront. I always buy from him.

A vodashop close to my home can get me a phone by tuesday/wednesday. If a local MTN/CellC shop can get me one earlier I am moving.

Yes. I have called and went to so many places. Crap info, crap service. And no effort to correct it.

Nope, the Chatz Stores use the same system etc as the Vodashops. :-)
