Hi everyone

Sorry if this is a repost!

I just wanted to know from Cell C what data I have used so far for January. The lady then told me that up to the 29th Saturday, I have used 5.12GB. I have the 5GB contract. So I went over by 120MB. They are charging me R537.00 for 120MB!!! This comes to about R4.47 per Mb!!!. But she told me that the out of bundle is supposed to be R2.00 per Mb. But if you go onto their Webside, it states that the Out of Bundle rate would be R0.39 per Mb!!! Am I missing something here!!! I have also noticed that when I am on the net, my data is getting used up so quickly! I am not downloading movies or any other big files! Most is like 10 to 15 Mb. Something is not rite here! I have a feeling that I'm getting ripped of here by Cell C and getting over charged during in bundle usage! meaning getting less data for the 5Gb per month. I did log a call and I'm waiting for them to come back to me. I hope it is a fault on their side!

Has anybody else had a similar problem regarding the in Bundle usage and out of Bundle usage?

Another reason to only go prepaid on special data deals like Cell C's. Why would anyone sign up to a contract at prices like these, with all the attendant hassles, paperwork and even banking charges? Unless you're reduced to living in a cardboard box, doesn't paying R995 or R1995 up front (or a bit more with a modem) and then nothing more to pay for a year and no paperwork, make SO much more sense??!!!

What a pleasure to know that you going to get your gigs and no monthly charges , but I have my vaseline ready when they suddenly pull the plug because it's not sustainable

They won't pull the plug on us. They'll just stop selling more and raise the prices on the new guys that sign up.

oh well im on prepaid ( 3 x 5gb..it runs out fast) and ran out yesterday and purchased a whopping R35 this morning at R0.39 per mb that has seen me through the day on email and general surfing, but no youtube or fun stuff, waiting for it to expire any moment

Same thing happend to me R864.00.

How many Mb's did you go over with? And the dashboard does not really help as well! On mine it shows that I have used up 12Gb for the month but when I quieried it this morning they stated that I have used only 5.12Gb up to date.

Yes. You are missing over half a G.

I find it somewhat amusing that you are indirectly suggesting that the Cell C app is using up all your bandwidth. We all have the same app, and we do not have this problem.

You should seriously consider locating the data hungry app, and blocking it.
Auto updates are the first things I disable.
A full system scan could be your next best option.
If neither of those solves your problem, get a bandwidth monitor.
If all else fails, re-install.

Agreed. Isn't that the whole point though. You don't have to worry about them draining your account, and that hopeless feeling you get when they do.

People seem to prefer spending more money over a long period of time rather pay less for a lump sum upfront.

Well my *****ing CELLPHONE used about 200mb of data during the month, background updates or something, you see. (Vodacom though, but the same thing)

Excluding connection fee; you pay 35% financing cost if you go contract route, I rather use my overdraft @ lower % if I don't have cash to fork upfront

Depends on what you're buying ofcourse. Majority of the time with phone contracts it works out a lot cheaper to go the contract route. Agreed, prepaid bandwidth seems the way to go if your either stuck with or stupid enough to use mobile data over adsl etc.
