Infamous hacktivist group Anonymous has announced that it will be waging a cyber war on Sony ... and it appears to have already struck the first blow.
Anonymous announced on Sunday that Sony's legal actions against hacker GeoHot and its other corporate behaviors "have been deemed an unforgivable offense against free speech and internet freedom."
And in the following video posted to YouTube Monday, they tell the tech giant: "You will feel the wrath of Anonymous. Your official websites will be taken offline including the PlayStation Store. These attacks will continue until we are completely satisfied with the outcome."

As of this writing, Sony's PlayStation.com and Sony.com websites are showing up either as inaccessible or loading improperly and at a crawl. Meanwhile, reports have been rolling in from various video game sites that Sony's PlayStation Network for the PlayStation 3 is experiencing outages and lag.

PS3 games are too ****ing expensive to buy here. So i say GO HACKERS!!! :D

Frankly I an with Anonymous on this one. What right do you have to dictate how I use your product once I purchase it? If I buy a PC does HP/Sony/anybody have the right to tell me what software I can and cannot run on it!

These guys are awesome, they hacked the ANCYL site(a few weeks ago), Scientology site, Zimbabwe government sites and a few dozen others.

I don't think they attacked the ANCYL site... there is a difference between an anonymous hacker and a hacker working under Anonymous

Agreed, I don't think, the board that cannot be named, will be wasting their time on a south African political party

Yes I re-read the article

Last paragraph is where the confusion came from
SA has also recently been targeted by hacktivist group, Anonymous, in a video posted on YouTube two weeks ago. The video entitled “Message from Anonymous: To the South African people” calls on citizens to take action against corruption and ineptitude in government.

Be even better if they could arrange to have the Sony executives taken out and shot.

25 years in prison if caught hacking. Boohya!

First you have to get caught. Secondly you have to be in a country with strong anti-hacking laws. As far as I know these Anonymous dudes don't reside in the US.

Yeah these guys are awesome, hacking PSN and disrupting the service is really giving it to the man, never mind the innocent consumers who are affected by these immature babies. :/

Yes they can if you want to make a warranty claim, with certian limitations. Otherwise no. Then there's the whole thing about dissembling/reverse engineering their software which the devices use.
