Hi Everyone,

A friend advised me to post here so here i am :) I need to know the procedure on how one goes about filing for a divorce? Yes, we tried the marriage counseling and although it helped me sadly it didn't have the same effect on my husband. I have tried my best to reconcile and each time i just get negative response. I have no proof of him fooling around but my gut feel is that that may well be a possibility due to him going away on "business trips" and if i ask him about him he avoids telling me any details.

Anyway i have tried and now decided that there is a point of no return, since i work part time and do not have loads of money as my hubby supports me i would like to know if there is a "Cheap" way of getting a divorce without having to get lawyers involved which is costly and secondly i feel they add to the "uglyness of the whole proceedings" I just want to get it over with as quickly as possible.
Am i day dreaming or is this a possibility?

Please advise...

thanx
Nicola

Sorry to hear.

good luck.

From what i know, if there are no disputes or kids etc, you can actually do it yourself without lawyers, but it needs to be uncontested etc.

That being said, i am no lawyer, so i am sure other will give you even better advice.

There are other avenues to consider...

You're always gonna have problems lifting a body in one piece. Apparently the best thing to do is cut up a corpse into six pieces and pile it all together.

And when you got your six pieces, you gotta get rid of them, because it's no good leaving it in the deep freeze for your mum to discover, now is it? Then I hear the best thing to do is feed them to pigs. You got to starve the pigs for a few days, then the sight of a chopped-up body will look like curry to a pisshead. You gotta shave the heads of your victims, and pull the teeth out for the sake of the piggies' digestion. You could do this afterwards, of course, but you don't want to go sievin' through pig ****, now do you? They will go through bone like butter.

You need at least sixteen pigs to finish the job in one sitting, so be wary of any man who keeps a pig farm. They will go through a body that weighs 200 pounds in about eight minutes. That means that a single pig can consume two pounds of uncooked flesh every minute. Hence the expression, "as greedy as a pig".

Also, S is for Sux. Sorry to hear about it. :(

I run a crime scene cleaning company and can help in this regard.

Just playing. (about helping)

Have you approached him concerning your intentions to get a divorce?
If he admits to an affair but asks you to forgive him, would you reconsider?
Surely you need more than just a 'gut feel' to initiate a divorce?
Is he abusive?

I got divorced 3 years ago for R700 , took 5 min in court and I think 2 months waiting for a court date. You need to contact divorce attorney, I remember seeing lots of ads in the local newspapers.

Well I got divorced last year and all it took was to walk into the divorce court in Plein Street Cape Town explain your intentions they assist you with all the paper work and pay the Sheriff R250 to deliver the papers to your partner wait 90 days for a date and 5 min in court and it was all over.

If there are no kids involved it's pretty painless and aslong as both parties can agree on a settlement of the joint owned assets.

@BOYAH we have discussed it yes, he feels unhappy in the relationship and there is nothing i can do that will change his mind - he is the stubborn type but strangely enough he has done nothing to iniatiate a divorce.

Oh yes, i didn't mention it in my original post we do have 1 child aged 4 and a half so that would complicate matters further.

You can buy divorce papers at CNA.

Alternatively - This came up on google - not sure if they legit http://www.diylaw.co.za/

It helps if you both want it, and have no kids to complicate things

Sadly yes we will endure the complication part, that's my reason for trying to stay together as a family but i'm not getting any commitment from my spouse to try and work things out so what does one do !!

Yes, we have 1 child - trying to avoid the impact of what will take place especially if it gets nasty, getting divorced can't be a nice experience.

If you feel that a divorce is the only alternative you might also consider divorce mediation.

A good mediator will bring a touch of reality to the proceedings, explaining the implications of each of your decisions - especially when it comes to the traditionally sticky issues such as child support ...

Whatever the route that you take, unfortunately it's likely to be one hellish rocky road. Best stock up with the tissues <sigh>

And best of luck (?)

thanks, learning something new here - never heard of divorce mediation - wonder if they talk to you in a way that it "makes any sense" of the reality and that way you don't go through with it or am i confusing this with a marriage counsellor?
