Hey guys, I have some exciting news to share with you!

I am glad to announce iPhoneZA's very own Cydia repository!

It is in early stages, so I would appreciate any feedback. There are only a few carrier logos on for now, but I couldn't wait to share the news with you guys :D

This is a first for South Africa, and I hope it will encourage local development!

- Please let me know if there are any problems are experiencing.

- If you are interested in submitting your OWN app/modification to Cydia, please contact me

How to access the iPhoneZA Cydia Repository:

1) To add the repo in Cydia, go to Manage, Sources, Edit, Add, and type in the following repo address:
Code:
http://repo.iphoneza.co.za
repo1.JPG

2) You should see the repo in the sources list if it was successful. If not, check the address is exactly like above
repo2.JPG

3) You can then browse our sections by either clicking on the source, or by going to the Sections tab in Cydia, and looking for the sections labelled "iPZA".

Enjoy!

Please let us know if you require any assistance! I am excited to see what comes of this. :D

I get some errors when adding the source on iPhone 4 4.2.1 . It adds the source and looks like everything is there but thought I would let you know. Pic of error:

Thanks Schwartz. That error does not seem related to my repo as I just added it on 2 other phones now and did not get that error..

Seems related to the modmyi repo.

But i will keep an eye on it, thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Are there still any benefits to jailbreaking?
Unlocking I can understand, but is the effort worth the hassle?

Can't see the point anymore...

My iPhone 1G was jailbroken and unlocked, but after one of the software updates the cydia app disappeared, but it remained unlocked, I almost never used cydia so I didn't bother to put it back.

Well, a lot has changed since iPhone 1. It just allows that much more customization by the end user! Something as simple to a custom carrier logo like in my repo at the moment, to being able to forward voicemails etc etc. And with the jailbreak being so easy nowadays, what's there to lose?

Does jailbreaking introduce any vulnerabilities?
Wasn't there a SSH hack around at some point?

The default password thing sounds familiar.

Which vulnerabilities does it fix? And how? Does jailbreaking install patches?

No, jailbreaking installs Cydia. With Cydia, you can install all the tweaks/anything else you want.

It only installs what you want and tell it to.

One such vulnerability fix was the iOS PDF Vulnerability fix which fixes the PDF vulnerability that was evident in < iOS 4.0.2..

Nowadays you can disable location tracking completely with Cydia and stuff like that.

Possibilities are endless.

well done fxit man
the beginning of some great stuff from you

Any current fixes? Are there vulnerabilities in 4.3.3 that we should know about that jailbreaking can fix?
