Can I use 2 routers on the same line with different ISP's

You can use two accounts over the same line if you have an adsl router or modem that support bridge or half-bridge mode.
 
1/2 Wan routers + Bridge capable ADSL modem/router - yes
 
You can only have 1 ADSL modem per ADSL line, BUT you can still have multiple routers behind the ADSL modem.

So you can get like a D-Link DSL-2500U ADSL modem and 2 broadband/Ethernet routers, each dialing their own ISP account.
Please just note that even if you use 2x 4Mbps ISP accounts on a 4Mbps ADSL line, the total speed would still be limited to 4Mbps.

Could you perhaps tell us more about your situation?
Like if you're sharing a flat with your brother, then I don't see a point in getting 2 separate routers for each ISP account, because you can simply dial the PPPoE connections to the ISP from each person's PC.

The reason why you'd want a router to dial the PPPoE account would be if you get like an uncapped account that is limited to 1 concurrent connection, which implies that you cannot create 2 simultaneous connections to the same ISP account.
The router makes 1 connection and uses NAT to allow multiple LAN clients to make use of that single Internet connection.

As the other posters have said, put the modem in bridge mode, and establish the PPPoE connection from either 2 different PC's, or else from 2 different WAN routers (i.e. has Ethernet for the WAN port, not ADSL), or else (if you have routing clue), use a Linux PC to establish both PPPoE connections, and use advanced routing to choose which packets go over which PPPoE connection.

You only get billed for data travelling over the PPPoE connections, not over the ADSL line itself, so you'd be billed for whatever data gets routed over whichever PPPoE connection, at whatever the rates are for that account.

As an example of the above, check out Gatecrasher's scripts for splitting local and international bandwidth (google "Gatecrasher site:mybroadband.co.za" should find it), or other ways of splitting local and international.
 
I have a DSL-2640U and I can have up to 5 active ADSL accounts at one time. That's 4 configured on the device + 1 PPPoE.
I route google, youtube and a few other local sites via my telkom account using static routes on the ADSL modem. This is a 5Gb account that spends most of the month on local only.
I use afrihost uncapped for most other work.
For specific international sites that I want fast access to, I use static routes to make them use to another telkom account.
And lastly I have a SNOM 300 IP phone that I route via PPPoE through the second telkom account.
 
i have 2 seperate routers configured with seperate isp accounts , one telkom uncapped and the other axxess 2mb 100gb account. i want to use both without changing routers when telkom is throttling my account. would it be possible to plug both in on the same adsl line, anybody got a solution for me?
 
What about just changing the details on one of the routers? Or do you want to run both at the same time?

To make it more convenient you could also record yourself changing the details with some capture software and just run that every time you want to swap.

My setup:
Two routers connected to a modem (both routers have modem capability disabled....... and the modem's router capability not used).

One router connects to TelkomInternet and the other to FNBConnect. Been running it for 3 months, but has to re-boot one or both routers daily (it was fine for the 1st few weeks, then started losing Internet connectivity late night / early morning - more so on TelkomInternet).

Important to ensure no conflict between the two router ip ranges (setup two sub-nets).

Another option is to use a modem-router (half bridge mode capable / enabled) and router to enable 2 isps on one line.

This could be a sign that Telkom are working on / upgrading your exchange. Try check up with them if that's the case. Used to happen to us daily, a number of times a day, before they switched people in our area over to a new DSLAM. Been virtually 100% stable ever since (since approx mid-Dec '15).
