I'm hoping someone can help me.
I bought a TP-link3420 router, but it does not recognize my vodafone k3770 modem
It picks up my brothers cellc E1752 modem fine.
Any way I can manually configure it on the router?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

Guys if you need help with new modems and getting them working with TPLink kit then its best to speak to Uniterm. They have direct channels to TPLink support and get access to preview firmwares and bin files.

Hi There guys

Our support technicians should be able to assist with this, if you have emailed them they will contact you with the steps required to get the modem supported.

I used the sniff tool posted above and successfully created a bin file for the Huawei K3770 working with MR3420.
Get it here

I takes about 2 minutes on my router to identify the K3770. Once identified it connects quickly. Speedtest on Vodacom Cape Town server gave 6.4 mbit/sec.

I take no responsibility for the file or changes you make to your router. Use at own risk.

Just a warning - I have noticed after the latest firmware update it takes ages to recognise my E1820 (CellC black stick).

was quick
U just download the bin file
open http://192.168.1.1 once the router is connected to pc
username:admin
password:admin

do the quick setup, upload the bin file, and voila
done.
A few extra steps in between, but if you follow the instructions, its not complicated at all
Shout if u need help

Great stuff Ajax..... I also forward the info to TP-Link.... in order to refine.... takes about 2 minutes here as well.... Dont know how you got the sniffer to work.... I just could'nt

Did you use Windoze XP? After success I tried on Vista and 7 for a different modem and it didn't work. I also found the instructions were not 100% clear in the how-to due to Engrish, but reading it carefully and slowly one is able to interpret.

Im a bit confused here, i downloaded BIN file, so where do i go to, to apply this BIN file ? The quick setup is just a normal setup, theres no way to load any files through the quick setup.
Thanks,

the link to the TP-Link USB sniffer tool does not seem to work - anybody know where I can download it?

I have had the same experience with my E1820 and 3420 - takes up to 10 mins sometimes... Anybody know if it's possible to 'downgrade' firmware, i.e. load an older version over the latest version?

Works for me. EDIT: Here's an alternate link.

Mine took 1 minute just now after a reboot with the latest (17 June) firmware.

downgraded my 3420 firmware to 110418 and router recognises and connects much faster using either E1820 or K4505Z

I saw this with the MR3220, but found that if I plug in the modem before powering up the router, it recognizes the modem much quicker.
