My D-link DSL-2760U is driving me mad...
Deleted my WAN interface to make a new one that will allow bridging as per:
I've also started off by adding both a PPPoE and Bridge interface on the D-Link routers to get it in half-bridge mode, and it did work.

The correct way to do it is to add only a PPPoE interface and then to enable the Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports option.

But now when I try to make a new connection and go through the steps:

and click Apply/Save

Click thumbnail to see bigger picture.

I get:
No data received
Unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this web page later.
Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.

and nothing happens... can't connect to the internet :( :(

Reset router and tried with IE... No luck :(

Go to management and do a factory reset then.

Did a factory reset, router rebooted and tried again with no luck...
Same story:

FYI after getting the error message above I clicked WAN Interface again and this is what shows:

Click thumbnail to see bigger picture.

Eish. I think you'll have to call D-Link, because I've never seen an error like that persist over a couple of browsers.

So, called their tech support yet on 08600DLINK?

Emailed them at [email protected] and Darius assisted me with a pdf of setup instructions and new software to load onto the router...
Seems to be working now...

Also, before I gave "PPPoE Service Name" a name before, but this time left it blank, seems that could have been one of the problems...

I've usually given my WAN interfaces "PPPoE Service names", like PPPoE_Mweb, so that I could identify which account I'm still using.

Well if having to put up with nameless interfaces to have a working router I guess that'll have to do :)

So my routers been fine all this time but last night stopped working so I did a "hard reset" (hold in the reset button until all lights go off) and re-entered all my adsl settings and hey presto.... same problem as in the OP...

I'm not completely clued-up about your problems with the 2760u but to the extent that this info's still useful to you or anyone battling to put 2760u into half-bridge mode, I've pasted instructions from a previous thread below:

Advanced setup; wan service; leave “layer 2” defaults and click next; leave the selected "pppoe" default; enter username & password on the next screen and make sure you check “Bridge PPPoE Frames Between WAN and Local Ports” (thx Pada); click next 3 times then apply; then save/reboot [I must say I've seen far better interfaces].

The summary screen looks like this: PORT / VPI / VCI: 0 / 8 / 35; Connection Type: PPPoE; Service Name: pppoe_0_8_35; Service Category: UBR; IP Address: Automatically Assigned; Service State: Enabled; NAT: Enabled; Full Cone NAT: Disabled; Firewall: Enabled; IGMP Multicast: Disabled; Quality Of Service: Disabled

PS As I'm no longer on ADSL or using the router I cannot answer follow-up questions.

Endgame:
I'm not quite understanding what you're trying to do, because bridge/half-bridge mode is only applicable to its ADSL connection.
If you're just using it as a wireless access point/network switch, then it is already just in bridge mode when you disable its DHCP server.

What I'm trying to do is help the OP and others WITH ADSL to set up half-bridge on the 2760u. As mentioned I have experience working on this specific interface, so hopefully the info will be of some use to them.
