Samsung launches Dive smartphone security software in SA

SAMSUNG Dive

In principle, that looks great, but how good is the upstream provider security ala Sony and more recently Pastel??

How do we get this application?

B.

So that means the built in location tracking on Galaxy S (and other) phones will actually work in SA now?
The regional restrictions are pretty stupid to have in the first place though.

Well I've just ried it on my Galaxy S and if I click on any of the services on samsungdive.com (Location Information, Remote Lock, Wipe) I get the message: "The function is not supported for your area." And I've definitely turned on the mobile tracker on my phone.

Same as above, doesn't work.

Samsung Fail.

Update: Samsung has issued a correction to explain that Dive is currently only available on the Samsung Wave II in South Africa and will be available on the Samsung Galaxy S II which is due to launch “within the next quarter.”

Why disable it for the Galaxy S and Wave? Stupid.

Exactly, stoopid stoopid plan. Just when we thought they were coming out of the dark ages. Still waiting for long life battery, does it actually exist? and the fact that they were 3 months late with Froyo - Love my Samsung (Or is that a Appsung ??) but the local guys need to shake it up a bit.

This did look like a useful add-on, pity it was botched again by poor communication.

Pretty fail on Samsung's part. Luckily we don't need them :P Where's my droid does this, and it works on any android phone. Not just "selected models"

Tested it out on my SGS and it sent me strait to my location
