The DoC, ICASA and LLU: Deadline schmeadline

So we paid these imbeciles at ICASA salaries since 2007 to tell us something that we already knew in 2007. To make matters worse, nothing has been done in the past 4 years appart from ICASA doing this: "giving Telkom another four years of monopoly" since 2007 and nothing will happen to these councillors? The worst of all must be that LLU will probably only be completed in 2050 pending more investigations.

lol, let's be honest. Nothing has happened up until today, except hot air, pointless talk, meaningless faffing around and finger pointing.

As of today, halfway through 2011. We have one discussion document.

When I look back at how I felt after Ivy's speech in 2006, I was devastated at the news that we had to wait until 2011.
How do I feel today? Bland, bored, disgusted... but not all surprised.
Four years of waiting for nothing.

Telkom hand out part of their cash cow? NOPE. Cannot see it happening.

Goverment = FAIL
ICASA = FAIL
LLU unbound in 2011 = FAIL

I totally agree.

Yet another development that is so dearly needed has been delayed!

If we continue like this, I fear we will genuinely start moving backwards...

So much for change coming with Roy. Walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, must be another useless government department.

This is such a striking example of EXACTLY whats wrong with this country, and why I left.

As many have expressed here the result is not all that surprising. My single biggest gripe as usual around these things is where is the accountability? Where are the heads rolling for this complete and utter waste of time and money that we are desperately short of in this country?
People keep getting away with this incompetence, and that just encourages behavior like this to be acceptable.

Standard ANC operating procedure.

That is exactly the problem, they get paid the same salary whether they achieve their goals or not. Nobody is held accountable and they all know this, cushy life hey? Nobody to answer to, get paid, never get fired and never get warnings. And if they keep doing nothing they get promoted. Man what a life!

Get Patricia de Lille involved. She may not be the most knowledgeable person on the topic, but she certainly knows how to raise a ruckus. Look at the interconnect thing.

Depressing, frustrating, ****ing ICASA, bunch of wimps. While other countries are forging ahead in technology and innovation, these no-brainers are stalling us.

Is there a single government department or org that is not a fcking joke?

Absoluely not speaking from experience having worked in Local Government - finally walked out on them - best thing I ever did :)

Can someone please just a brief explanation on what the main challenge is with LLU. I really do not understand why it can take so long even for government sort this out, considering the fact that this has become a necessity in our current times

The main challenge is that the Government and select ANC fat cats own a 30% stake in Telkom and protecting them as a monopoly is in their financial interests.
