Google labs to be shut down

As I said in a previous thread.
It's a good thing, since Google's products are too fragmented. They need to stop with the major diversification and start bringing everything together.

Confusion is not a recipe for success.

I agree with you, but they did have some pretty cool innovations under their labs section...

Page said it all: "Overall, we are focused on long-term, absolute profit and growth"

I am really sad to read this. Google Labs brought us a lot of new cool ideas. It removes the cool factor from Google. It was always one of the nice things about working at Google. You spent 4 days on work and the fifth on some idea for a new product. I wonder if this will also now be removed? Now I start to see why Facebook is stealing the Google developers.

Some features of Labs I actually use, what happens now?
Are they taking the best and leaving the rest or merely killing of all?
Any ideas here guys ....truly sad I'd say

I do find it a little surprising. Google has prided itself on leading innovation, and a lot of their cool stuff was born in Google Labs. Where's the innovation going to come from now. Are they becoming more like...........dare I say it............. Microsoft

Sad new indeed. I actually use a few of the Lab's gadgets. I hope google doesnt disable them!?
