TP-Link TL-MR3420 router review (MyBroadband)

Still have connection issues with this thing and a Cell C 3G stick (E1820).

I have been using this exact router for a couple of months now - got one at the office with Cell C Woosh and one at home that I use as main router connected to WiMax. Both have the same issue: after a day or two I can not access the web ui - don't get error or nothing it just does not respond just blank browser page. (Although the connections are still working) The only way to get into the web ui is by switching it off and on again.

I have updated both the latest firmware and both still have the same issue. But I have to state except for that bug it is really a desent router.

My 2c.

Awesome little piece of hardware. Did a firmware upgrade and it is now also working with my ZTE speedstick. It just works. :D

Where?

where is it available? There is also the MR3220 which should be just as good since in the real world, the 300Mbps is more often a gimmick than not!

Not exactly on topic but I love my TP-Link W8960N adsl router :) Have had it for 6 months now and super stable. And very inexpensive.

Thanks for the review. To be honest there are already quite a few Routers with similar spec (and which can do 3g failover), but this one is well priced. After investigating the MountainBox a bit more I realised they are the only solution to do home bonding of more than 1 ADSL line (no other router can do proper bonding) - which puts them in a completely different bracket than any other ADSL device you can buy from retail in SA, and it is made locally.
And their support looks pretty good so far : http://www.5thmountain.co.za/MountainBox.html

though this is of course excluding either an ADSL or 3G modem

I find these products to be rather misleading for the unknowing public.
It should actually say capable or something or other...
The average Joe sees
3G/3.75G wireless N router
(since that`s what`s written on the router itself) for R569 from
incredible ripoff only later to realize the "sales guy" did not tell him the whole story.
I stepped in to save a potential victim two days ago

Both TP-Link and Uniterm Direct (the importers) are very clear in their websites with regards to this. While I don't doubt that some salesman in a store might get it wrong - he must try really really hard to miss it.

Question tho.. can this route handle multiple pppoe connections ?

I had someone who couldn't access the interface and I am not saying it is the same for you, but once the disabled their Kaspersky antivirus, they were fine. So, I was wondering if you have some software possibly blocking your access once you login?

I have been using a number of TP-Link devices, and moved away from my Netgear's. I didn't have a problem with the Netgears, it was just that as we expanded, I found that with the TP-Link's they gave basically the same stability and either the same, if not better wireless range at a much cheaper price. Great devices!

There's a reason why TP-LINK has taken over the number one slot for WI-FI and broadband CPE sales throughout the world, plus all of their products carry a local 2 year warranty.
