Hi guys I have a galaxy tab for under a week now and noticed a little blotch on the screen. It actually looks like a bit of moisture behind the screen.

You can see this clearly when the screen is off. When I touch that part of the screen, it sorta spreads. When the screen is on, it flickers when I swipe accross it.

Have any other galaxy tab users experienced this. I got it from incredible connection as a gift for my bro. Should I return this or what?

The tab still has all he plastics and packaging and has not been dropped or mishandeled. It was in an official galaxy case. It was actually used for about one day since it was a gift and was only opened yesterday by my bro.

Its within the 10 day purchase policy and I should be able to get a refund on it.

What do you think?

I went back to the store and decided to return the tablet. The screen actually started to flicker at that spot. They took it back with no questions asked. It was however within the ten day period.

I could of had the option to swap it out for a new one, but i rather wait for a new batch to come in. I will admit that i am a bit put off from getting another one because after reading the forum in one of the responses below, i was quite horrified at what people were experiencing with theirs.

I am however really dissapointed that the tab did this. Besides the screen issue, it was a really amazing product.

Lol my bro didnt mind though.......i told him that i will get him the galaxy s2 instead.

Lol....Its my bday soon....My bro BETTER get me an awesome gift now that I got him the tab :P

Wow three!!!

if this is going to be an issue, I rather get a cash refund. I do not want to keep returning them over and over.

Mine had dead pixels... not water...

But it seems quality control is an issue, it seems moisture, dust, and newton rings are quite common....

Mine just did the same thing... huge blotch under the screen... tired of these pieces of ****... returning it and getting a refund.

Returned mine yesterday. Will buy my bro the galaxy S2 instead. Its cheaper than the tab anyways.

1. I AM an Android fanboy

2. This is one of the reasons why Android get such a bad name, and iPad just keep on winning the Tablet race!

Returned....with a mild bit of hassle.... took over a hour.

That was my last Samsung product... their quality control is shocking.

Same issue here!!!

I got one on a contract at an MTN store in Constantia Kloof (Roodepoort) 13 days ago on a 2 gig data package. I noticed the same newton ring yesterday, googled it and found this issue is common.

So I called Samsung SA and the guy on the other end barely knows what a tablet is never mind this issue. He says to contact the people I bought it from. I call MTN SP and they say to take it into my closest MTN store and when I get there I insist I want a replacement no a repair. They guy goes away to make a call and comes back to say I must go through MTN connect as I got it through an MTN connect store.

Now I am getting mad as all the MTN connect stores are far from where I stay and I will not have a chance to get to one anytime soon, I mail the store I got it from, call them a few times and tell them I will be coming to get my new, faultless Tablet. They are dodging things now saying they have spoken to their manager and will have an answer for me soon, blah, blah, blah. I have got to the stage where I do not want this tablet or a replacement as this seems to be too common an issue, who knows how many of these TABS have this issue, what happens if after 3 months the new one has this issue, I will not be able to replace it! I want out and I reckon CPA was designed for this very problem and if need be I`ll send my complaint through to the CPA. I got the contact specifically for the TAB and if the product is not up to scratch I do not want the contract, end of story.

We had a lawyer at our offices explaining the CPA to us today and she reckons this is a cut and dried example of how the CPA can come into effect.

Not according to Vodacom - after 7 days they want to repair... I'd really like to see someone take them on on this - but not me on such an expensive device :p I don't have the time.... I'd gladly do it for a R3k device

Try a hellopeter complaint on Samsung and MTN

I have, specifically to MTN because I took the contract for the TAB specifically. Now that the TAB is problematic I no longer want the contract as even if they give me a replacement what happens if this issue re-appears around month 3 of 24. I don`t want a Zoom and definitely not a flyer either.

The CPA states the consumer has the option: Either Repair (no thanks), Replace (no thanks) or Refund (yes please). The repair is not even an option as Samsung Korea announced that if this problem was picked up within 14 days they would replace so not sure what the delay from MTN is.

Same problem Here

I have the same problem here. Bought the device outright from CelluCity in Pavillion on Friday evening (26th), and yesterday (29th), I noticed a blotch in the middle of the screen. Took it to CelluCity yesteray evening to take a look, and they said its because I put pressure on it. Yeah right, like im going to mis-handle a 3 day old device that cost me R8,000.

Thank you for the link. Took me near half a day to read everything ;-)

Long story short for those interested, overseas the problem is finally recognized as a design/manufacturing default from Samsung, people have been returning their devices, and being returned with a new/better LCD.

I am going to return my device to CelluCity, and have explained the problem to them, and will post an update on what happens.

Guys, anyone know if this was just a problem with the first batch? I'm looking at getting the P7500, but dont want to get this issue...also, was it both Vodacom and MTN stock?
