BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900 review (MyBroadband)

excellent review. I wish more MBB reviews went into such detail. I especially appreciated the real life use scenario of the voice commands in the south african context
 
Some of the shareholders are now demanding that RIM be sold - or that it sells its patent portfolio. All RIM's hopes are now on QNX. The pressure is building. Yahoo is also for sale (CEO fired). Who might want both? MS.

Agreed. I flew through Dubai last week and this was selling there for R4800 at launch from the official Rim distributors. Needless to say they were completely sold out wherever I went.

Pity, people who have bought them have really good things to say about it.

At R4800 it's reasonable. But over R7500 in SA is ridiculous. But then again it's Vodacom selling at these prices, so that doesn't surprise me.

We'll have to wait to see what MTN and Cell C will sell these units at.
 
I am hoping for RIM to come up with this very phone with QNX but include an auto-focus camera and maybe a radio and I'm sold.

I agree on the price, it is ridiculous but unsurprising considering it is Vodacom. This phone deserves a R5 000 or less price tag.
 
Cost is just under 6k, almost R1000 more than the 9800. BB SA ripping off the consumer.

Amazing how everything in SA cost more. Does it get gold-plated when it crosses our borders.
Sadly there is enough suckers who will cough-up just to have the latest fashion gadget.
SA is good business for foreign companies.
 
The new Blackberry Bold - the Touch 9900 - will out in the UK on the 12th August and price plans will start at £31.
The £31 a month deal offers the handset for free on a 24 month contract with 300 minutes Anytime, Unlimited* texts and 500 MB Blackberry Data. (Unlimited texts are "subject to the fair use policy".
Carphone Warehouse are offering the Bold 9900 for £31 here and you can preorder for delivery. All tariffs available are on Vodafone.

Such a high price for an inferior product. HP touchpad failed because they launched an inferior product at the same price as an iPad 2. The same will happen with Blackberry. It makes no sense that someone would pick a Blackberry over an iPhone at that price.

As soon as HP dropped their prices, the HP touchpad sold out. Blackberry is good enough for allot of people, but not at that price.
 
I have one of these phones. The retail is not that high guys. R6599 is the retail price. Well at lease thats what I am charging at my store. But I do agree that we are getting screwed with prices of mobile phones in RSA

Back to the phone. Whoever else has one, can they please confirm if their phone is also dropping connection? Mines seems to lose BIS connection constantly. Sucks cos I never had this issue with my 9800. I have to switch the network on and off and it works again. Probably early bugs.

I had that with my Torch ... and then it stopped. I think it was the network though ....
