Intel demonstrates ultra low-power solar energy processor

I bet that in a solar-powered computing world the term 'cloud' would have a whole new meaning ...

Good news; at least now we should see really sexy form factors coming out.

Aside: I bet you that mugshot character has many mouths to feed back in his homeland...well done to him for raking in with Intel.

I wonder how powerfull (or lack there off), such a processor is. On the other hand one can increase the size of the solar panel.

My ancient calculator has a cpu and runs on some teeny solar cells.

Interesting, that's an old Pentium motherboard, Asus P55T2P4.

At this morning's keynote Intel revealed that the processor is codenamed Claremont. It is indeed an old Pentium architecture CPU that's been modified.

It offer a 5x improvement in energy efficiency, and runs within a couple of 100mW of the transistor threshold voltage.
