Hetzner Germany hacked, SA clients not affected

At least they are honest about being hacked.

They could have just kept quiet and hoped nobody found out, although in this day of Twitter and Facebook it might not be a good idea to let others break the news first.

Even though ZA hasnt been effected, this is still pretty scary, knowing that they are not as great as everyone makes them out to be.

Either way Kudos for revealing this!

Hetzner seems to always have security problems.

I don't understand people who pay those insane prices for hosting when you can get a dedicated server in the US/EU for half what they charge you and unlimited traffic on a 1GPS line or 100mbps line.

I will never understand.

according to the reports on hetzner.de it was their own internal db's that were accessed. So it affects mainly their Konsole-H systems and the Robot systems.

The issue is that if you're shared hosting or managed dedi, your info is all stored within those databases... your email, your ftp, your db's the lot.

If you're on a root dedi it's not affected since they have no access to your info at all.

I think that is a bit harsh, this is only the second known breech this year, I would say that Hetzner is the only company that will admit it and some people host locally for a number of good reasons.

Generally all servers are under constant attack and the ISP involved will just keep quiet if there is a breech.

Kudos to them for letting us know. I would prefer to know rather than not.

I am not affiliated with Hetzner in any way.
