LLU decision unacceptable says Communication Workers Union

The entire industry needs a shot in the arm, and LLU is exactly the catalyst the industry needs to increase competition which will lead to increased efficiencies and lower costs. Both of those things are drastically needed if they want to make it viable to the service the poor.

They fail to see the big picture.

CWU are a bunch of idiots. They figured out their tenders will be cut in half once LLU is released as Telkom will have to re-shuffle it's scams.

CWU is useless.

What decision is the CWU talking about?

I thought we were discussing the option atm.

I reread the article and I dont see any quote of theirs mentioning a decision. The writer might be putting words into their mouths :P

From the article, right at the bottom...

The CWU said that the status quo should be maintained as a decision on LLU was taken prematurely and it is therefore unreasonable, unrealistic and unacceptable.

Bunch of racist p__cks.

Why is it rich white areas and poor black areas. I know a lot of black collegues that stay in a way better area than I do, as well as white peeps that are no better off than those living in shacks.

Why can it just be rich suburban areas vs poor rural areas, the way the rest of the word would describe this situation.

South Africa should replace the word stakeholders with the word matricholders[SUP]tm[/SUP].

Damn right. This is a telecoms issue and they feel the need to bring up race as somehow being pertinent to the discussion.

The Communications Workers Union (CWU) will not lead to sustainable long term competition, and may inhibit infrastructure based competition.

“Will the CWU do any good to South Africa? The answer is No,” ...

The ICASA board noted that it wasn't "if" LLU will be implemented, but rather how it will be implemented. The CWU had no response and said they would submit within 14 days. How do you come to this without being prepared?!

They also offered no viable alternative, rather just stonewalled any LLU proposals.

Their entire presentation lacked substance beyond typical Marxist rhetoric.

+1

And these guys probably got a "nice incentive" from Telkom to oppose it. Can't prove it.. but I'll bet you R50 someone is greasing some palms for them to be against it... Telkom knows it will lose their strong hold over the market.. and they will be up the creeck if they do (no vodacom, adsl cashcow halved with LLU)...

****ING UNIONS sometimes they make sense and other times they talk **** which 90% of what they do. probably sucking telkom off for more worker rights for the next strike action

I mad

Let those who pay the most tax decide, and I can assure you CWU members pay very little tax so they can just shut it.
