Bitstream access must replace the ‘broken’ IPC ADSL model says ISPA

If only the difference between bitstream and the "IPC model" was explained in the article.
 
I agree with ISPA, as long as bitstream access is used as a stepping stone to full LLU. It should not be the final solution.

Also, the different options:
Full local loop unbundling (full access): operators will be given access to Telkom’s ‘raw copper’, and can therefore use their own technologies using the copper local loop.

Sub-loop unbundling: this allows operators to gain access to the copper at a primary connection point at street level.

Line sharing: Telkom will keep using the local loop to offer land-line telephone services, but unbundle the higher frequencies available on the copper cable for Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services.

Bitstream access: this is essentially a wholesale data service. Four different Bitstream options were previously highlighted, including the resale of local traffic services, bitstream with collocation, bitstream without collocation and the resale of access services.

Full local loop unbundling: Not sure SA can deal with every ISP launching their own tech on the copper tbh.

Sub-loop unbundling: Best imo.

Bitstream access: Telkom will find a bullsht way to maintain status quo. Like they did with that unlimited local ruling.
 
We must go full LLU, we cannot go half or sub or whatever. We must, must be strong. We have to remember just how much Telkom has been holding us back. Everyone, please remember all those phone calls you used to make to Telkom and then have the operator not help you at all.

Remember Telkom charges you for the "Telkom tax" -- A fat tax they use to pay off Government tenders.

We must not forgive. ON WITH FULL-LLU!!

Neotel presenting now and has the same train of thought - no phased implementation at all, full LLU, straight away.

There is no way ICASA has the balls to force full LLU anytime soon. Bitstream would be a great start, especially if it is done before the end of the year. What I would like ot know is how will that change pricing/performance compared to the current system?
