In an article "Indiscreet Facebook poster gets the boot" in Sunday Times today, the journalist mentions the following :

"Another official said the understanding was that a ministerial chief of staff was a political appointee who was expected to toe the party line and respect its leaders."

So it has become acceptable practice that a ministerial chief of staff is a party member that will again ensure that other positions also be filled with party members ?

"He has basically insulted his minister's bosses. He was not going to get away with it," said the official, who asked not to be named.
And they have insulted the nation with their flagrant disrespect for free speech and opinon... not to mention their waste of taxpayers money.

I won't even bother to comment on this. R13 will help me out :D

Was exactly the same with the NATs pre 1994 they have learned well from their predecessors

The Nats. discriminated on language as well. If you spoke English, you were screwed. Owen Horwood was the only English speaker to gain high political office (finance) and that was only because he was a mega suck-up to the Nats.
