Taxpayers will have to pay more than R400m for the ANC's centenary celebrations in Bloemfontein.

This is on top of the R100m which the ANC had already budgeted for next year's big party.

This amount is however petty cash compared to the money that will be spent to ready infrastructure in the Free State to host the party.

- Taxpayers have already paid R150m for the Philip Sanders resort just outside the city. The resort will be the headquarters of the festivities;

- A further R35m has been budgeted to restore the Methodist church in Waaihoek, where the ANC was founded in 1912;

- R200m has been allocated to renovate the Seisa Ramabodu Stadium in Mangaung;

- The official house of Free State Premier Ace Magashule will get an upgrade costing R15m;

- Millions will also be spent to restore the historic Mapikela home, and the Winnie Mandela home in Brandfort.

R35m for a church? What are they building? A replica of Westminster Abbey?

As for the resort, how can R150m just be given to a private citizen to upgrade their establishment? Can that not be challenged in court?

Everyday I read the papers and this forum I like the ANC less.

Actually my liking for them has already reached rock-bottom 8 years ago, but somehow it still feels like it's going down.

I try, I really, really, really try to see how the ANC gets value from these projects... but... I have to put it into context... There's that Pick 'n Pay building on William Nicol and Republic... Multi story with store, academy, kitchens and, and, and.... I was talking to some of the guys involved in the construction and their budget was R9Million, 'tho they did run a little over. If that building cost nine bar, what the Hell could you build for R35M or R150M????

EDIT: I also can't help notice the complete lack of participation in this thread of the forumites who were defending the R100Million ANC spend on the event, saying that money came from the ANC and not the taxpayer.

The first article said they'll need R100mil from their own nasty pocketses... now they have decided that the taxpayer have to pitch in to line their nasty pocketses once more... :mad:

R100 million is the ANC's (from investment wing Chancellor House, which doesn't benefit from tender irregularities at all :rolleyes:) and the R400 million is your tax money hard at work. Instead of repaying the upgrades to the N1 or funding the NHI shortfall they'll spend it on their party! You on the other hand must pay tolls and compulsory medical insurance.
 
R 400million of tax payers money wasted on this nonsense yet commuters (mostly taxpayers) are still expected to pay for etags and tolls? They can all go to hell! They won't get a cent out of me.

I'm with you on this one bud. I'll gladly help you make copies....I'm sure someone knows someone who'd be willing to "cropdust" the pamphlets over these areas for free.

On a serious not though I think action like this is very necessary because I think it's time for SA citizens to actually be pro-active and spread news like this instead of sitting and doing nothing. It's time that the masses knew exactly how the money that could be used to improve their living conditions is actually being used.

I guess I should have read a lil more :o

yeah.... we must just pay pay pay :mad: :mad:

I'd rather they waste it on housing, roads, meds or even food for those who don't have, if they really must spend it....

I guess the masses will say it's fine it's their Political Party & their president, they don't mind. :mad:

So they are paying R100mill from the Kadoefie Fund and we have to foot the rest of the bill.

My care-O-meter for people that vote for these nuts are on an all time low. -50. Die in squalor, you want to.
And do not come with the “it was budgeted for” argument. FFS what kind of human budget this for a party while their voters live in rot?


I am not allowed to wish for a bomb to blow them to pieces. I will however wish on them all the food and booze they need laced with flesh eating bacteria. :mad:
