Johannesburg - Two men have been taken in for questioning in connection with the killing of a Pretoria woman, according to a newspaper report on Wednesday.

Chanelle Henning, 26, was shot dead in Faerie Glen a week ago, shortly after dropping off her son at pre-primary school.

The New Age reported that the two alleged killers were taken in for questioning on Monday night.

The two, one of them a suspended police officer and the other a convicted criminal who has spent years in jail and owns a black Kawasaki ZX9, were questioned until the early hours of Tuesday.

Drug link

The New Age reported that the two may have been paid by a prominent Nigerian drug dealer.

Lieutenant Colonel Katlego Mogale could not confirm or deny to the newspaper if anybody had been taken in for questioning.

Henning was overtaken by two people on a motorcycle and was shot while driving on Manitoba Drive.

Faerie Glen Neighbourhood Watch chairperson Fanus Johnson said witnesses had described the motorcycle as a black and silver "big touring bike" with no rear number plate.

The two people on it were wearing black jackets and helmets with the visors down to obscure their faces.

Henning was buried on Monday at the Doxa Deo Church in Hartbeespoort.

Interesting....

The news just said a Cop confessed to having a part in the murder!!

Will find linky!

If you look back at my posts I said it was either drug related or her hubby... or maybe a combination of both?I'm just glad they got caught.

What I found so strange is that her family said she/they have been followed for months by unknown people and they suspected their phones were tapped too. Why would a drug dealer take so long to off someone who owes them money?

Somewhere, someone is not telling the entire truth.

Maybe she paid in drips and drabs?

If I was owed R20k and just about to do something about it - and then gave me R3,000 with a promise next week - I'd probably hold off.

Would only be when ZERO comes, I'd do something

The Nigerian drug dealer will appear in court today. Very prominent and the cops can never get the charges to stick. Now we all know why. Because he had his own little team on the inside making dockets and evidence disappear.

Just last week he was acquitted of murder on a family member(two years ago) that he beat to death in front of News Cafe in Menlyn. That after an argument started about a parking space which he claimed was "his".

Strange how witnesses just started disappearing and other witnesses changed their stories.

I really hope the charges stick this time and the bastard gets what he deserves!

One of your family members?

Sorry to hear that APoc84.

I guess the drug dealer was using drugs himself - nothing else can explain why one would kill someone over something like a parking spot.

I know I sound naive for saying this, but I looked at a photo of Chanelle Henning and could hardly believe she was involved in drugs. She just did not look the type.

Might not have been using. It doesn't mean you're not in the business.

Maybe she crossed the Nigerian in another way and it might not be drug related per se.

Perhaps hubby was just smart enough not to get his hands dirty.... doubt its drug money.

Yea, same.

Would love to know what the motive was. That should shed some light on this, as sad as it is I find cases like this exciting.

That's how the good detectives work :) Once you've found the motive, that will lead you to the killer. I presume that is how the SAPS worked.

You need a suspect before you can find his motive.

In any case motive is not a significant factor in Sa criminal law, at least not in the way you see it

being stressed in american cop/court shows. All that is needed is evidence.
