I am looking for a geeky series to watch... seems to me all the new series are going downhill or it has something to do with solving a murder, going to court or doctors doing whatever they do...
So I am looking for something different, don't have to be "mainstream", can even be animated/anime. Just looking for something intriguing and good to watch. Something like Heroes season 1 or a few of the good Lost episodes...

And hopefully it is not too old, not before 2005 or there about.

Have u tried Terra Nova? Very losty.....fairly entertaining. Although now that I think about it....the main character is technically a cop and he solves murders while his wife is a doctor and she doctors..but hey, no laywers! just dino`s :D

Watched the first couple of shows of Terra Nova, and it is crap... don't like it all.

Not easy to meet your criteria!!!

Allen Gregory
Boss
Misfits

That is the problem, I wished I liked House and that stuff, but I just don't.
Thanks for the suggestions, will download the pilots and have a look.

If you are prepared to go the anime route their are some really intresting titles to watch their, I would definitely give Death Note and Code Geass a watch both very intresting, lots of other great anime's but those two stand out as the best in my mind, just make sure you get them in jappenese with english subs as the dubs can be quite horrible.

Give us an idea of a couple of series you watch, so that it will be easier to recommend.

If you enjoy Anime then there is a whole variety that you could enjoy, you just need to specify specifically what it is that interests you. i.e. Action/Romance/Sci-fi etc.

At this time I am not watching anything I enjoy, except Broadwalk Empire.
I love Sci-Fi...

I enjoyed the first season of Walking Dead, new season they screwed it up. Game of Thrones was alright. Mad Men is good, but only starting in June next year (or there about). Hmmm... what else is there... Enjoyed Sopranos.
Also busy watching Clone Wars, but it isn't all that good. Boston Legal was awesome, most new law stories just suck.

Have you been watching Fringe? The first season was a little weak - it was all over the place.. the story tightened in season 2, and season 3 was full on concentrated on a single story arc and was brilliant. Season 4 is continuing like this - its has episodes on par with Lost now - and its from the same creators of Lost..

Other than that, if you've not seen Battlestar Galactica and Caprica - they are amazing. (and make sure to watch the pilot miniseries of BSG before you start season 1!! its 2 episodes that are like 90mins each i think.. season 1 begins directly after the mini-series with an episode called 33 minutes - make sure you don't start there or you'll ruin the set up for that episode)

Check out Misfits - short seasons - but its really funny. (crazy heroes type story with whack characters - well made thoough)

Also, "The walking dead" - its on season 2 now - I don't normally like zombie movies, but this series is really well made.

I've just finished watching all six seasons of Sopranos - and wow, that was unexpectedly brilliant - its so worth watching just for the last ten minutes of the series - there are essays online discussing the meaning of the last scene and how meticulously crafted it was. The whole show was - I loved it.

If you've not seen "The Wire", read about that - its a little old, but its one of the best I've ever seen - but only watch it if you're prepared to sink in, and take in a lot of detail - the show rewards viewers who are observant - it doesn't spoon feed you. Read reviews - its often cited as the greatest TV series ever made.

Arrested Development - The funniest show I've ever seen - but its a type of humour that's not for everyone - the writing is genius, I can watch this over and over again - So many jokes span seasons - that there might be some small comment made by a character, and if you didn't watch an episode from way in the beginning, you wouldn't get the joke - also only for dedicated viewers.

Flash Forward - This was like Lost - in terms of quality and a mysterious story. Only one season though - I don't know if it will ever get picked up again.

The 4400 - This one's production values where a little under par with the more expensive shows, but still it turned out to be a better story than heroes - well worth it. Heroes for me went downhill fast after season 1.

Taken - 10 episodes that are movie length each - produced by Spielberg - you gotta see it.

Stargate Universe - Now, I did not like the other stargate series - they looked cheap to me - especially SG1. Universe is totally different - the writing is awesome - the production quality is top notch - its a story of its own, so no need to watch anything of the others. It's 2 seasons of really good sci-fi (but if you're looking for a space sci-fi series start with battlestar galactica)

V(2009) This is quite cool - alien invasion remake from the makers of the 4400 - I've only seen half of the first season but it looks really good

Neon Genesis Evangelion (Really old anime) - my fav anime series - really deep.

Boardwalk Empire - Also very high end - With Steve Buscemi so its a must

This an obvious one - 24 - Jack Bauer! It's crazy addictive - like - you gotta set aside 24 hours per season coz you won't be able to stop.

Game of Thrones - High fantasy, well written, great cast - very expensive looking - epic.

Neverwhere seems to have really good taste:

BSG is one of my favourite series ever. 4 seasons with an incredible ending. Really worth your while if you like scifi.

I love the dry awkward humour of this show. The narrator also adds a nice touch to it.

4400 was an amazing concept and still one of the most goosebumps-inducing themesongs for a series. Really wished it carried on longer than the 4 seasons it had.

Taken, with Dakota Fanning, was an exceptional show to watch. 10 episodes that will keep you glued to your seat.

V(2009) This is quite cool - alien invasion remake from the makers of the 4400 - I've only seen half of the first season but it looks really good

Incidentally, Joel Gretsch plays in 4400, Taken as well as V. He plays the same type of settings, but different roles.

Stargate Universe - Now, I did not like the other stargate series - they looked cheap to me - especially SG1. Universe is totally different - the writing is awesome - the production quality is top notch - its a story of its own, so no need to watch anything of the others.

There I'm going to have to disagree with you. SGU felt like they were milking the series and apart from Eli, none of the characters had anything in them that you could relate to. It was them flogging a dead horse. SG1 had Daniel, T'ealc, even Jonas Quinn was cool, SGAtlantis had Dr Carson & Beckett (the alien chick was just plain irritating though.) It also had Jason Momoa as Ronin (He plays the role of Kal Drogo in The game of Thrones.)

The first season of SG1 seemed cheap, but after that it became immensely interesting, the more they made contact. Besides, it has MacGyver in it.

Game of Thrones - High fantasy, well written, great cast - very expensive looking - epic.

Watched the series and busy listening to the audiobook now while driving on the open roads. Keen to get to the 2nd & 3rd book.

Another series I actually really enjoyed was Better off Ted. Only 2 seasons, but brilliant comedy and very endearing.

I agree with Atlantis - I'm on season 4 and quite liking this, though I liked SGU more because I liked the whole angle of never knowing what Rush's motives where, and I loved the end of season 2 where they discovered the mission the destiny was set out to achieve - I really wish this would series would go on just for this.

I'm currently acquiring all of SG1 as I'm really getting into the Stargate "universe" since Atlantis. I think I enjoyed SGU a lot because I saw it first. I'm also watching Macguyver! I found a torrent with the whole thing hehe.

Geeky? Its a sitcom, but check out "The Big Bang Theory"... very geeky and fun. I like it.

And maybe "Burn Notice", no cops looking for murderes and docters etc.

And sorry, no new Firefly yet....lol

Anything HBO, namely:

The Sopranos
Deadwood
Carnivàle
Entourage
Game of Thrones
True Blood
Treme
Rome
Band of Brothers

I'm also loving Hell on Wheels (but then again I love anything western, which reminds me about Into the West - which is an awesome mini series, as well as John Adams).
