Was quite shocked to find out earlier that Asus have been using Let Me Repair for warranty support for the past 4 months.

Phoning 0861ASUSSA and pressing 1 for product info, warranty, etc. lands you at the Let Me Repair call centre. I had to fish through options to actually speak to Asus. This concerns me.

Personally I haven't had such bad service from Let Me Repair, so will have to see how things go. Seems like Asus use them in a few countries.

Nothing wrong with Let Me Repair.. i did work for them for some time at the George branch. I did the Laptop repair side. Fun to work for, but got a better oppertunity in Cape Town :)

If you want more info how they handle things.. let me know.

All i can say for now is.. we normally received faulty hardware.. we tested it and make sure with diffrent software, check what parts need replacement's, book for new parts.. install them.. test them again with heavy burn test etc etc.. and when it goes out, it gets tested again to make sure everything is 100% before it go's back to the customers.

Customer service was pretty decent.

Well, I bought an ASUS DSL-N11 wireless router. WORST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE. The router literally hangs the ethernet or wireless interface that my PC is using after being on for a while. I have just changed to a Dlink and now all is working as it should!!

LMR took my query and passed it on ... and on ... and on. I was told they could not replicate the fault.

And on a camera repair / replacement I had POOR service from LMR. I had to phone them to chase them - was told "it's in progress" and when I eventually phoned a manager (who's number I got through a friend) then suddenly I had my camera in a day!

I used to like ASUS ...

Clearly the George branch was a lot more efficient than their JHB branch - which unfortunately seems to handle most of the HP repairs I've needed done in the past. Bluntly put, if I ever have to deal with them ever again, it'll be too soon.

Sorry Asus, I won't be able to buy, recommend or sell your products in future :|

Must be an exception to the rule, then. Took a Deskjet 690 to the Cape Town branch, they didn't even book it in because it's "too old" and they'll "quote me R3000 to fix it".

As others have said, I'll have to scratch Asus off my list now.

I usually take out of warranty stuff to BASE in Observatory first.

Ta for the headsup PostmanP

JHB LMR and HP are a nightmare... you just need to deal with them once for any warranty / out of warranty repair and you will literally want to take the cretin you are dealing with and smash them to a pulp with whatever is at hand.

Awful, terrible company... they just do not give a F8ck at all, seldom answer phones / never return calls and pull estimates out of their bums - turnaround times / spares /quotes etc. One turd there kept referring to HP and HE.... could not find anything on his system... HP, HP, HP, Haaaaitch Peeeeeah... and he would repeat Eish, EEEE.

They are called Let Me Repair because that is exactly what you end up saying or resorting to... doing it your bladdy self.

You will have a better chance of getting Zuma convicted on corruption charges than having Let Me Repair actually do anything regarding HP in JHB.

Asus has now gone that way too. Poooo. Pffffffft. Shame on you Ass-ooos.

fortunately I can get HP spares from elswhere, so unless it's a warrantee repair I take nothing to them.

They(LMR) charge more for the spares than I get them for also.

& yes I've dealt with both their jo'burg & george branches. The jo'burg one is a nightmare. The george branch though pleasant to deal with seem to take their time, but otherwise not bad.

Clearly an awful lot of people have experiences that say otherwise. A quick search here will reveal a few eye openers, and oh please don't venture to hellopeter or the likes....

Nothing personal of course, but where there is smoke......
