Hi Everyone,

I know there are a lot of questions regarding TV’s.
I’m looking at buying the following TV JVC LT-55N800 55" Full HD 3D LED TV.
For some reason I’m unable to find anything on the TV (Review) and I would like some input please.

any Advice will be appreciated.
 
First question everyone is going to ask you : what do you intend to use the tv for?

Low price for a 55" LED, but still a bit dicey in my opinion.

Seems the local JVC distributor, Nuworld have the authority to use the JVC name on no-name (Chinese) TV imports. I think thats why you can't find any reviews on the web for the JVC models they sell locally ... http://www.nuworld.co.za/UploadedFiles/catalogue 2011/JVC CATALOGUE 2011.pdf

I would only look at them if I could thoroughly test their capabilities & performance 1st hand.

The TV is on sale at House@Home.
whould you think they are a accredited dealer?
Do you have any suggestions on how the capabilities can be tested first hand?

How bright is the room? Times of viewing? Curtains?

Samsung PS51D550 51" FHD plasma is R9 - R10k, suits less bright rooms though. Suits gaming and movies.

Of Nuworld yes, however I somehow doubt these TVs come from JVC of Japan

Ask them to plug in a console (X360/PS3) and check picture quality (e.g. read small text), lag & motion. Same for movies depending on what device you're intending on using.

Samsung PS51D550 51" FHD plasma is R9 - R10k, suits less bright rooms though. Suits gaming and movies.

Samsung UA46D5000 LED backlit LCD around R9k. UA46D6000 w/ 100Hz around R12k.

As you can see, the plasma offers best bang for buck due to its size.

Currenly using a projector as a TV, therefore walls and curtains are dark to anable best quality viewing,the Size display setup equals to a 82".

would like to be able to watch and play anytime of the day.

room size also needs to be taken into account, 7,5Mx5,5M.
 
You have not mentioned max budget, only R10,999 - a price that will not afford you a branded LED backlit LCD larger than 46".

That will cost you around R18k (52 - 55"). But then you might as well look at the PS59D550 59" which goes for around R16k...

How about upgrading your projector?
My first one was 1000 ANSI lumens and required everything to be as dark as possible. Now I have a 2500 ANSI lumens and use it perfectly during the day with lights on and curtains open.
I have a 42" LG and a 46" Sammy and the projector is miles and steaks ahead for Xbox and movies. The TVs are used for just general use.
My projector projecting on a 120" 16:9 screen FYI.
