One of the pc's at work start making this weird buzzing sound a week ago. I checked it's not one of the fans, also not the cpu fan. Can it maybe be the cpu itself? It's like a very sharp buzzing sound. There was a power drop, and the pc restarted after that. Maybe that caused the problem?

I did switch off the psu, and put something into the psu at the back to stop the fan. Started it, and the noise was still there. But it can be something inside the psu. So it cant be the cpu then? Cause there's nothing mechanical in it? Then all that is left is the psu.

I'd be worried. Easiest is to swap out parts till it goes away. My money is on a PSU cap.

Okay, will check the psu in detail then. Is it possible to replace the cap? Or replace the whole psu?

I bought a new psu, and wanted to install it now. But before I did, I thought I'd just do a small test. I unplugged everything inside, and started, but nothing happened, then I plugged in the motherboard, the psu started, but no weird sound. Then I plugged in the small 4 pin plug into the motherboard, and when I started again, the sound was back. So that tells me it's not the hdd, dvd drive, fans. So can it be then that it is whatever get power from that 4 pins input, or the moment the psu get more strain, it makes that sound? Thanks

Is the monitor always on? I had a buzz from a monitor once.

Yes, but this morning when I tested, it was off the whole time.

What is your system specs and what PSU did you get?
Shucks, specs I will have to dig up, but I got the corsair 450w psu. But clearly it isn't the psu then.

Just one thing, the power that goes into the motherboard, is one big plug with many wires, and one small one with 4 input wires. What is the small one with 4 wires for? My intel board at home also have the same two inputs. Because this krning, when I disconnected all the wires, once I connected the plug with the 4 wires, the buzzing began again.
