Megaupload founder claims he is innocent

I sorta agree, why does every article I read go on about how his mansion and cars and how he almost wasn't accepted in Auz? They trying to make him sound like a big bad crime boss.
Surely the point should be whether MU was legal or directly involved in piracy, and that's what they must prove, not how extravagant the founder lived.

Personally I think their case is all sensationalism designed to milk and ride the wave of piracy awareness that SOPA created.

"Content theft"?? I see they're still trying to paint copyright infringement as theft. I you still have the original, I didn't steal it...

An no, I don't advocate piracy. I'm just against stupidity universally.

Oh, and another interesting thing. So, if MegaUpload just provides storage, would an appropriate analogy be that they are like a company that rents out physical storage as well? Like say one of those garages that you can rent to keep your furniture and other domestically awkward trash in? And what happens if the police find out someone's been storing bodies in one of those garages? Do they lock up the landlord as an accessory to murder? Surely not. Surely, the landlord doesn't routinely have to check what is in everyone's garages just to make sure no-one has anything they're not supposed to have. Like the aforementioned dead bodies. Or drugs. Or an arms cache.

Last time I checked that wasn't a crime,true what they saying....the media are sensationalizing the whole thing.

Its a simple question,was he promoting online storage or piracy?Thats all that matters in this case.

I think he is innocent, he did not upload the copyright content and he said he's system allowed copyright holders to remove the content from the network. Its like saying Microsoft is guilty of music piracy because Windows Media player allows you to rip and burn music.
