Honda opinions

Im looking at a 2004 Honda Civic 170i Vtec, anyone got any experience and opinions on the vehicle?
100 000kms, FSH with agents, timing belt just done.
Very clean vehicle.

Any opinions on this particular model?
 
Price is slightly over retail which is R68 500, which I'm happy with despite it being a private sale. I just want a good vehicle.
Other options were Polo Classic 160i and Toyota Corolla.
I've priced the service costs for the next 50 000kms and am happy with that too. I just wondered if anyone had one or knew someone who had one. Lovely drive, not a creak.

blaaislaai - I can't say that excites me too much either but I am able to look past it.

Nobody ever got rich from selling Honda parts.

I'll take Honda over VW and Toyota anyday... Well except the day that I traded in my 1.8 Ballade for a Polo, kept the Polo for a year and have been back with Honda for the last year with no complaints.
 
My sister has had her civic for well over 150 000k's. Nothing has gone wrong with it since day 1.
 
Honda = great cars! Really solid but as mentioned, if it breaks and services = $$$$$$$

It probably won't break though :D
 
Won't break. And you are not limited to the agents for parts either.

PS And it will never spill a single drop of oil on your driveway or garage floor.

Cool, I went ahead and bought the car. Here's to many years of happy motoring.
I did get quoted on the service costs from Honda for the next 5 services and I'm happy with it, so lets hope nothing else goes wrong in between.
Ill post a follow up here in a few weeks with my own opinions on the vehicle.

Here's a picture of the new wheels. Taken with a Blackberry so forgive the quality.
Immediate impressions, so far so good, very smooth on the road, everything works. Nothing creaks, or has too much "play" than it should.
Performance is acceptable, I haven't yet given it a real burn but it feels like it wants to run. Aircon is freezing, electric windows work well.
The way the rear seats fold down to open the boot up is just amazing, I could literally sleep in there, and I'm not a small fella.
What I don't like is the tan coloured leather and the position of the gear lever. I don't mind its unual position but it sits just a little TOO high.
Overall I'm thrilled with the package and cant wait to get to know the car properly.

Gonna be boring owning it though as it will never give you any hassles :P

Naaa, I had a few Hondas, (1982, 1987, 1990 and 1992)Balades and a Civic. The few cars I had in between cost me more to service. To tell you the truth, I saw on more then one ocation, that a Honda part is even cheaper than the pirate part.
Bought a air filter back then for the '87 Balade, geniun part cost R47 and the pirate cost R60.

To OP, congrats, know you'll enjoy the car.

I think it depends on what parts you buy, the normal service stuff I use to get from the agents because they were cheaper than the other spares places (including oil). Something like a lower control arm on the other end you are gonna pay for though!
