I have owned many many bmw's, & have found after sales service / support (even out of motorplan) to be exceptionally good. I have never owned an audi but drive an A6 on a regular basis & love it.
A friend has an audi, and even under warranty / "motorplan", audi dealers have often shirked responsibility.

For my part the switch (although I dont drive a bmw at the moment) seems almost like a leap of faith.
Of the 2 cars & I am in love with the A7.

Anyone here have much experience dealing with Audi in terms of service etc.

Yes, I've owned two Audi's, an A3 TDI and an A4 TFSI in the past 4 years. I found that service varies dealer to dealer, but you can find excellent service if you shop around. I usually deal with Audi Centurion and they have really stepped up their game in the last year or so. I never have issues when I complain even about little niggles on my car. They fix it and claim from the Motorplan, no questions. You do sometimes have to ask for exactly what you want fixed and know a little about the car, but once they see you mean business, they don't give hassles. In the past I did have a situation where they went on a parts replacement treasure hunt and didn't really diagnose the problem properly, resulting in multiple visits over a month period, but in the end every component in my aircon system had been replaced until the lucked out replacing the faulty one. You may find your car in the workshop a bit more often than you expect, but it is a VW underneath and not exactly the pinnacle of Japanese reliability like a Toyota or Mazda. That said, you should not let a little extra visit or two between services get to you when people gawk at your beautiful car everywhere you go.

The A7 is a truly stunning vehicle. Audi's don't quite have that sporty feel, like a BMW. But the interiors are second to none, the comfort and luxury just calms you down and makes you feel special.

The BMW sales experience is much better I must admit. They treat you like royalty if you look like you have money. My wife just bought a BM, so let's see how their actual service stacks up in the next 5 years or so.

Auto Atlantic - excellent service
SMG - excellent service
Fordicks Tyger Valley - AWEFUL...will NEVER go there again.

Audi
My wife's boss has three Audi's (one a TT one a Q7) and gets terrible service from the Tyger Valley dealership. He has a secretary that handles it for him and has many spare cars so it doesn't bother him.

We've had the same thing with the Merc and BMW garages.... ended up buying at the second garages both times, and our services follow.

I've never had an issue with Audi service. Once had a clutch go while driving a TDI and they sent a tow truck to pick it up, and replaced it with no fuss. They also replace my brakes when they squeak and wipers when they streak. I suppose I've been pretty low maintenance though, so YMMV.

I don't know where in Cape Town you are, but Audi Center Winelands in Somerset West are great.
