iPhone 4s or Samsung Galaxy S2 ???

Ok, so I'm between a rock and a hard place.

I'm due for an upgrade. I want the iPhone 4s but vodacom has ZERO stock, I also like the Galaxy S2.

Which one you guys reckon I get?

Wait for iPhone stock to arrive
or
Get Galaxy S2 and be done with it?

Which one is heavier on data (i will monitor it like a detective)?
Average battery life?
Screen of iPhone is awesome but is there really such a big difference in the galaxy's screen?

PS. I am going to be modding and customizing this thing fairly intensively. If I get the iPhone I WILL jailbreak it on day 1.

So yeah, please guys guide me..

If you're into customization, there is no better platform than Android, with so many custom ROM's floating around ;)
 
Obviously wait for The iPhone, you cannot compare. Get it through Vodacom Direct. Less backlog, some reports of delivery in only a few days! Do not go through a walk in shop.

Direct? Explain please? what do you mean Vodacom direct?
 
I've got the GS2, honestly, best phone I've ever had. You wouldn't be disappointed because you got it over the 4s
 
Im leaning to the SGS2 but i want that "premium" feel of the iPhone :-( ... also is it true that the top of the range Android phones do not run as "smooth" as iPhone 4s?

EDIT: guys with SGS2, hows battery life and average data usage?
 
I'd vote for the Galaxy S2. I have an android phone and an iphone and when it comes to messing with roms and all that, it's a lot more fun on android.. there's a lot you can do with a jailbroken iphone, but a lot more with andriod. I've got full pc Ubuntu running on my phone just to mess around with it.. also got windows 98 working.. I see xp is possible too. Also, in terms of customiztion, you can turn andriods entire user interface into 3d with a launcher like spbshell and others. There are TONS of launchers out there that do a lot of things. There are some cool live wallpapers too.. like a wallpaper that has a live feed of androids linux log, so everytime you perform an action, your wallpaper scrolls through it and it looks kinda cool lol. You can probably get a lot of this to work on iphone too, including ubuntu, it's just not as hassle free as android for things like launchers and other os's. The iphone used as is, is top notch, but when it comes to customisation there's no competition.

Yes it is true that iOS is smoother. iPhone battery also better since you mentioned it (all good smartphones have poor battery).

Anyway expect plenty more S2 recommendations. This is a tech forum so people are more likely to go for the tinkering/value aspect of Android over the out the box/most polished OS/apps of iPhone.

Yes I have read the thread posted earlier and i can see all the techies here.. I will tinker with my phone but I will not be doing hardcore modding. But i think im going with the SGS2, now that i think about it iPhone is a bit expensive for just a phone where as SGS2 is cheaper.

I reckon if you have never used iOS or Android, then it is easy to love iOS. Once you have used Android though, you will struggle to go back to iOS.
PP is right, you cannot compare them. Android is just that much better :)
 
Called vodacom, if i want to stay on topu 200 I need to pay an extra R3699 . If i move to top up 315 i need to pay R2299 .... Im leaning towards the topup 315 package. Why do vodacom rip us off so badly? anyone know of a better package for me?

I have had to work on a lot of iPhones 4s and Ipads the last few weeks. I don't think I will ever be able to go Apple at all. My HP Touchpad running ICS is so awesome...When I work on an iPad I am so bored..everythng is boring...safe...same. Android has so many possibilities, you just cannot beat it!

I had an iPhone 4 user get a Samsung Galaxy S yesterday. Did not have the heart to tell her there are better phones out there. I started to show her around on the phone and the different features and her jaw was on the ground. I told her that I am sure that the iPhone could do most of these things, but she did not know how to. She did mention one thing: There are just so many free apps! Yeah, there are...
 
If two people with iPhones are sitting next to each other, they might easily pick up each other's phones, cos every iPhone's home screen looks exactly the same.

I've never seen one Android phone's home screen look the same as another one.
