First the e-tolls now they have to do this, poor anc, everyone is beating up on the thieving, corrupt, racist, evil, b . . . . oops almost said something bad about them and that might be the straw that breaks the gravy-trains' back. :)

Has anyone else noticed that they seem to promote cosatu as the peoples hero in every case against the corruption called the anc, almost as if they want to portray themselves (cosatu, anc and their masters sacp) as the opposition instead of the DA.

Another fail in the propaganda and disinformation war against South-Africa if you ask me.

Bowing to pressure would be scrapping the bill altogether.

This is very good news.

Hope it's not just lip service though, but we'll soon find out. The one good thing this country still has is a strong, independent Constitutional Court. The ANC probably knows this and realises that everyone and their grandma would've have taken it to the Con Court and would've been forced to scrap it.

The anc seems to have a lot of sleepless nights of late.

I have a feeling that they finally realized that all their failures and their own attack dog turning against them has been noticed by the voting sheep and since cosatu is portrayed to be fighting corruption and stands up for the people, the sheep will bleat next to the same picture in the next election like before, because cosatu is in the alliance and will protect them . . . . . from the alliance ????
I don't get the thought process but then again, I think with my brain and not my heart and/or nether regions.

It is sad that no one in the media has the guts to educate the populous with some shows on radio and television about what a real democracy is supposed to be and what these evil pieces of excrement is doing to them.

Ah well, enough from me, I'm sitting back and waiting for the sucking sound of emptying bank accounts when the final implosion happens.

Friend of mine is closely involved with right2know group. They have really done a tremendous job over the last year.

Regardless I feel SA is doomed to the same fate the rest of Africa, it's happening slowly but I only see doom & gloom for the future. People in SA are gonna starve at the end of the day. Just look around you at the deterioration of infrastructure that is supposed to keep the country running. The only government department that functions is SARS, the rest is total basket case.

Steps in the right direction.
I'd like to hear more from the experts that were opposing this.
Just hearing it from government does not make me feel easy about it just yet.

I disagree. Sure we've been on gradual slide downhill, but the one good thing that saved our butts was the hand-over of power as opposed to a civil war, which more than likely would still be raging today by the way.

During that period we formulated the best ******* constitution ever. There was a tricky period during the earlier years when the ANC was getting a 70% majority. Times have slowly changed though, and the opposition is growing, with the population slowly realising that the ANC were good freedom fighters but have proved to be a lousy government.

With people like Lindiwe Mazibuko joining and heading up the DA, we now have an opposition that, at the least, can keep the ANC in line and ensure they don't get completely out of control. Of course the true test of democracy will be when the ANC are actually challenged as the ruling party and have to hand over power.... but that's a long way off.

It's been a rocky road, and I too had serious doubts during the middle years, but I think we might just come out of this doing ok. Now that's optimism for you :p

The constitution is only as good as the paper it is written on. Nothing stops a government from repealing it and if you look at the ANC's interference in the judicial system you have to realise the writing is on the wall. The masses will NEVER stop voting for the ANC. Show me one African government that has handed over power to their successors without a war. Believing that we are no different to the rest of the continent is just optimistic. People in this country will be free but they will be dying of hunger & disease in the next 20yrs while their electorate are living large.

This country is doomed! Just wait!

Any moment now, no e-tolling or info bill is just a set back, its going to happen!

Yeah it's a tough call, but I think if it was going to happen it would have been within the last few years.
Like I said earlier we are unique compared to the rest of the African continent in that we had a negotiated settlement. It was our foundation, the kick off point for our democracy. Granted we've gone off course over the years, but for better or worse we remain a democracy. The coming years will be telling though.

A civil war, yeah I heard that a lot, I would have liked to see that wars outcome 3 hours after it started.
A war against one of the best armies at the time that just won the cold war on its borders, hmm, no, I think that civil war would have been a short one.

The anc had a pathetic military force in mk and was a worse terrorist organization, they literally needed white people to build their terrorist bombs for them and only marched because they feared their wonderful leaders' use of the necklace and ak more than the police. The only thing they had going for them was the liberal media overseas that made the anc leadership into something they obviously were not, heroes and good honorable noble savages.
The only time we saw them in action in the war was the dust clouds when they ran away leaving the Cubans and the rest of Africa to fight their war for them and that is why they have to use our taxes to pay them back, it's a sin tax for their cowardice for they were back in the villages of the people fighting their war, raping and pillaging with the cream of the rotten crop living the high life in London and Moscow doing the same over there in safety.

I'm sorry to rant like this but every time I hear about the wonderful gift we received from the anc for not dying in a civil war my blood boils because it's a plain and simple lie told by the last lot of nat politicians and the anc to explain away their failures and cowardice and to have an excuse for their thievery.

No doubt I'll be called names again but I just don't care, lie to yourselves if that makes you able to live with what is obvious and in your face, the anc is the worst thing to have happened to South-Africa in it's entire history.

Making heroes and gods from the dregs of humanity is why Africa is the way it is and until Africa realizes that you don't deserve respect and to rule over anyone just because you're old or have a lot of cattle and wives or a sangoma divined it but for the good that you do and the service you render, nothing will change.

With that I think I'll stop posting, It was a mistake to start anyway, good bye and good luck.

Well I agree with you to a large extent. The ANC forces would've been crushed, it would've been a massacre.
The ANC never gave the whites anything, it was a negotiated settlement.

What I don't agree with is that the ANC are some demonic entity that "is the worst thing that's ever happened to South Africa in it's entire history".

Sorry but that's just pain wrong. You had human beings treated as below human.
Let's perform a little thought experiment:

It WAS NOT the blacks that had been subjected to apartheid, but the WHITES.
Your grandfather had his land confiscated from him and was forced into a township. And so you were born into the township life; given (deliberately) dumbed down education and never allowed to rise above a certain level. You had to carry a pass-book around and weren't allowed into restaurants or public swimming pools.

It's very easy to look past the suffering of others, but anyway you look at it it was just plain wrong. The ANC might not be the best government, but they certainly aren't the disaster you describe.

Bottom line is this: If all else was equal, with only your skin colour being black, you would be singing quite a different tune.
