Firefox shows off new “reset” button

Is it just me or does FF seems way too memory intensive?
 
FF is a memory hog. Especially it seems to struggle with having open video.

Applications do not do memory management, the OS does. Applications are not aware of the memory requirements of other applications, and yes, FF is a huge memory hog!
 
Memory hog? People are building PCs with 16 and 32GB RAM these days. If Firefox uses 2GB of that then it doesn't really matter much.
Chrome isn't far behind, they just separate each tab as a separate process. To me that's worse (oh crap there are 20 chrome processes going on at 100MB each, etc)
 
facebook seems to be the biggest culprit on firefox (or is that just on ubuntu?)

Unfortunately, I purchased a PC that uses DDR II RAM and has Windows 7 32 bit. So the RAM is hard to find and expensive and I can't use more than 3GB RAM, using 2GB currently.

Will probably buy a new PC soon.

Yes DDR2 is incredibly pricey at the moment. New PC + Win 7 Pro x64 is the way to go.

(I actually need to do the same thing. I'm seeing the limitations of my 5-year-old PC everyday.)

Back on topic -- Firefox is awesome :D

It's not so much the fact that it uses a lot of ram so much that it freezes a lot. I have plenty of memory but Firefox incessantly freezes up and causes the whole PC to sit while it sorts itself out.

Yeah, looking for a not too expensive one. Problem is that the more I research, the more I end up wanting to spend :D

Yeah, happens to me a lot too, just assumed it was memory-related.
 
This reset button will come in very handy. I normally have a lot of tabs open, and had to manually troubleshoot in the past. My FF is a memory hog for sure, but so is all the other browsers I have tried. Only thing is they need to bring out a 64-bit version, which can actually use more of the memory.
