New iPad network setting to allow for Personal Hotspot

Just noticed the fine print: "This feature is not available on the original iPad or iPad 2".

Typical Apple…

If you don't want to jailbreak, try this:
http://www.gizmodo.com.au/2012/03/h...w-aussie-ipad-right-now-without-jailbreaking/

I haven't tried this myself as I have support call into Vodacom ADS about this issue. As usual Vodacom blame Apple and the iStore I visited blame Vodacom. :)

From what I have seen on the 'net, the carrier needs to release an update from 12.0 to 12.1 to enable the personal hotspot as iPhone and iPad hotspots are treated differently. The original iPad and the iPad2 never had this feature so the carriers didn't need to worry about supporting it, but now they do.

Specifically this link below mentions this:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3574#

And a quote from there is:
"To use this feature, your wireless carrier must offer Personal Hotspot and your devices must meet certain system requirements."

Hope to have this resolved soon.

I got Personal Hotspot working on my new iPad (iPad 3) with Cell C!

Settings -> Cellular Data I put "Internet" as the APN under both the Cellular data and Internet Tethering fields in APN settings.

Settings -> General -> Network -> Personal Hotspot -> Turn on Personal Hotspot.

As a matter of interest, what is listed in your "Carrier" field in Settings->General->About?

I lost patience .... so installed Mifi ....

also allows me to use a less hungry Bluetooth... or on demand setting ... well worth it..
