Just bought Mifare 4k cards that are compatible with the NFC feature on android.

Company: Migrant Card Informatics
Website: http://www.migrantcard.co.za
Telephone: 011 622 2600
Address:3 Cambridge Place, MCA House
Cnr Kirkby and Oxford Road,
Bedford Gardens, 2008.
Bedfordview. South Africa

Price: Mifare 4k R22.50 each
Mifare 1k R16.50 each

Min quantities of 50 apply but possible to negotiate. (Reason is the guy doesnt want to open a pack only to sell 5 and be left with the rest)

Maybe it will be possible to add other business that sell the cards and make this a sticky

Interesting
How do you program it?
Can it be done directly from a Android device

It can be. I used an app called NFC Task Launcher to automate mundane tasks when i get home.

eg. Switch wifi on and mobile data off when I get home. Does the opposite when I leave.
. Check into foursquare when I get home
. Placed on on my phone windscreen mount so that the navigation app and music player launch when I place the phone on the
mount

Looking at the app there are tons of things that can be automated. The only issue is sourcing the nfc chips in small amounts that can be economical to home users.

Sounds great

Do these guys sell in small quantities.
I've been looking at the stickers which are ridiculously cheap but to import them costs an arm and a leg

Yes, if you have a phone that supports NFC. Pretty much only the Galaxy Nexus, SIII, and Sony Xperia S from what I know.

I bought one of the starter packs from these guys: http://rapidnfc.com

The latest tag I wrote does the following:

->Turns WiFi on
->Waits until I'm connected to my home WiFi connection.
->Sends a WOL packet to my desktop at home
->Wait 20 seconds
->Turn Wifi Off

So when I get home from work I can put my phone down on the tag and my PC will automagically begin booting.

The shipping costs more than the starter pack :wtf:

When I ordered shipping was less than what I paid for the started pack.

It wasn't cheap but I now have a lot of NFC tags - and it was delivered in 3 days.

Thats a nice site. Have bookmarked it
But they dont seem to have nice nfc stuff.

I used these guys : http://tagsfordroid.com/tags/Home.html

Ordered it - and it shipped on the Thursday, by the next Friday it was in my postbox. It is cool to have a "car-mode" task for the keyring tag ... switches on bluetooth and gps and starts navigation etc.

Plus it is a switch tag (well I set it up like that) - so you swipe it again and it sets up the phone for "wide world" as I call it - loud ringer, no bluetooth, gps off, wifi on .. etc

I'm a bit late to the party but started using my Gautrain card for this. Anyone know where I can grab a handful of stickers cheaply?

Why would you want to automatically turn wifi on and mobile off? Do you usually keep wifi off to save your battery?
