I want to get a Navigation app running on my Samsung GIO but dont want to use up my data.

Are there offline maps I can use?
I have a garmin Nuvi 200 so it would ideal to have something like that?

Google maps if you have wifi at home you can now download maps to your phone for offline use. Another option is maverick it is also supposed to be good and can use a number of different maps ovi etc, and can record your trip details to.

Didnt see that with Google Maps, had to update as I have never used it before, SHOT

Its actually just caching map tiles, long press on an area in the map and choose cache (i think). It will then download all tiles within a 10km radius of that point.

Nope, last update changed that, yes you can still cache but with the latest version you can actualy save the entire map that you are looking at including all zoom levels bellow that to your phone.

Simply press menu and then save for offline.

Alternatively if youwant a completely offline solution, NavFree is your best bet. 13mb market download and about 200mb for the latest sa maps. Updates the maps every 2 months, part of one of those open source map groups. Includes voice navigation.
