CommSec's iPod Index shows that South Africans still pay a higher price than consumers from most other countries for Apple's products.

The Big Mac Index is simply an informal surrogate for real PPP.

They show different things? The iPod index is relative to technology.

that is assuming that the big mac in Dallas has the same weight / size / nutritional content as here. Which it doesn't - Its about twice the size.

These articles all make the same mistake - USA pricing is EXCLUDING tax. SA pricing is INCLUDING tax (VAT). So the guy in the USA will actually pay around a 8-10% HIGHER price (in most states) than what is listed in this article.
