The graphics on my son's Mecer Xpression TW7A started becoming corrupt; glitches in the CMOS setup, Windows showed four desktops ad the display driver refused to load in Ubuntu.
After running a memory test for a couple of hours I noticed the graphics improved, but then worsened after the laptop cooled down again.
I heard about "baking" the motherboard and also running the laptop wrapped in a towel to raise the temperature.
I didn't like the sound of either as too many other components would be put at risk.
I finally found this guide which describes heating the Nvidia GPU with a heat gun.
I followed the instructions fairly closely; the coin test, the liquid flux and the tin foil heat shield and it worked!
