Hi,

As the title suggests. We need a technician or company who are masters of Dot Matrix printers. We recently rolled out new POS software and bought new dot matrix printers. We cannot get the layout or printing right.

We have OKI printers working. The Epson's just dont work properly. Myself and the company supplying the software have tried our best. We just cannot get it right. Is there anyone out there who is a genius when it comes to dot-matrix printers. Particularly Epson LX-300.

Regards,
Peon.

There are a few printer control standards. PostScript, PCL and then also Epson ESC/P. They all have various versions.

What are you using to control the printers, the Epson ESC/P or is it handled in 'graphics' mode by windows, or are the printers in some other emulation mode?

If the OKI printers work correctly it's probably an emulation issue.

Hold in the Font button on the LX300 while turning it on to enter the menu, it prints instructions and the current settings. Do the same menu printout on one of the working OKI's (either hold in one of the buttons while turning it on it'll have a dedicated menu button) and make sure the settings are the same on the LX300. Lines per inch and emulation are the usual suspects.

If it's paper-feed/tear-off related the manual should tell you how to set that, it's been a while since I've used one.

See, I've tried and has the POS company. I need to finish other projects. I need someone to come in who knows their stuff and fix it.

Supplier came through on OKI's. Just bought more OKI's. Will sell the Epson's.

If you're working with Epsons its always best to use the standard Generic Text drivers because those always work without fail. If its a formatting issue, generally its your driver settings that are at fault.
