DoC speaks on ICT Indaba finances debacle

The DoC speaks out about the controversial ICT Indaba finances, saying that the minister was cleared of any wrongdoing

Well to be fair, neither can she be accused of any rightdoing.

Well what can you compare it with? A communications Indaba (meeting...) vs the London Olympics opening ceremony maybe? Communications meeting R100mil, London Olympics Opening Ceremony R350mil. So in reality the Indaba should have been at least a quarter as spectacular as the London Olympics Ceremony.

The political aholes in this country just simply have too expensive taste/needs.

ZA has been hosting ITU conferences for years - I was at one in mid-1980's - so I can't see the need for an Indaba to 'place Africa on the global ICT map'.

And it certainly wasn't a 'first of its kind', unless they are referring to the amount of money making its way into various unauthorised pockets ...

I've read the response but don't feel satisfied the answers are all there and I guess others will feel the same. Therefore I'm sure this is not the end of the matter...

I guess this means we can look forward to further hundreds of millions of Rands getting stolen.

To aid the securing of sponsorships, endorsement letters were also issued as is required by the industry.

The question that should be asked here is "was any such letter issued in the name of Phosane Mngqibisa, by the DoC, under the auspices of Dinosaurus Pule?"

Ms Carol Bouwer and Mr Phosane Mngqibisa have met previously at private and state functions such as the 2011 Budget Speech.

Dear Dinosaurus Pule, I do not see the relevance of that statement you made there, you have not denied that you are sexually involved with Phosane Mngqibisa, so it must be true, which begs the question "how is it that your boyfriend was even involved with this conference in any way, shape, or form, let alone having access to the money that was donated?".

Like with any other supplier, Mr Mngqibisa was asked to present his credentials to Ms Bouwer who found them suitable enough to partner with him for the ICT Indaba.

Very well, this suggests that a third party did the asking, someone asked Mr Mngqibisa to present his credentials to Ms Bouwer, so who the hell was that third party and what is that third party's relationship with regards to or standing within the DoC?

The Department of Communications released a press statement today, saying that the auditor general report has cleared the Minister of any wrong doing.

Considering that this alleged auditor general's report has not been released for public scrutiny, and that the auditor general has presumably not made any statement supporting the DoC's and Dinosaurus Pule's self indulgent interpretation thereof, the conclusion I come to is that the minister has in fact not been cleared of any wrongdoing whatsoever.

Nepotism, it's the cornerstone of corruption.
