Mweb 4Mbps uncapped -> Afrihost -> Openweb -> BACK to Mweb and I'm happy again

I moved to Afrihost to save money and realised in the first couple of days that I had made a mistake. The IPC was way overloaded and I was getting sub 400k speeds. I cancelled and they honoured their money back guarantee and I tried Openweb and although it was faster, it was as inconsistent as only an IS product could be - peaking at 6Mbps and down to 1Mbps.
I then cancelled openweb and this morning tried to sign up with Axxess but their system says my ID has already been used, but I can't recover password on any of my emails as they don't exist in their system. I tried to call their after hours support number but after four calls and 30 minutes of being on hold, I gave up.

I called Mweb and within minutes was back on the web. Although my speed tests are between 3 and 4, they are stable and consistent.

Being able to count on a certain level of performance is more important to me.

Am I one of the chosen ones? Never really had any major problems with Afrihost. My main use is to download NZBs from astraweb and I get full line speed 24/7 and to stream YouTube. I do 160-200gb a month with them.

I do have one favour though...
I am still getting terrible speeds on my FileZilla FTP downloads from my cloud servers. The funny thing is that Afrihost had the same issue - starts quick, then drops after 10 seconds, but Openweb was consistently fast for the entire download. I suspect this is a throttling issue of sorts. I'll pm you in a bit with vids of what is happening.
It's good to be back on a stable connection again with a support line I can count on.

I suffered for a week when the Cape Town IPC was oversubscribed. The part that got me was that nowhere did they allude to the issue before I purchased. It would have been good to know to avoid the hassle. They did, however, give me double my money back (which I insisted I didn't want), so kudos to them, but shame on them for letting me join the oversubscribed IPC for a week before bailing.

Ditto, exactly the same reason why I cancelled with them.
Mweb is the right choice : )
 
MWEB will always get my vote on the reliability and quality side :)
 
As expensive as mweb is compared to other ISP's, their quality is by far the best! :D

I get why people opt for the IS providers - the prices are competitive (though OpenWeb wasn't really - R599 for silver uncapped). I'd rather have the more familiar Mweb stability.
 
Admittedly they did have a few hiccups which happened to coincide with when I signed up so pretty irritating
However I now get full line speed 80% of the time which is a great deal considering I am paying R897 for 10MB uncapped

Yeah, well I wanted to test Axxess uncapped but after 30 minutes on hold and 4 phone calls I gave up lol. Mweb came to the party in minutes.

I've ISP hopped between mweb, web africa, afrihost, openweb and axxess and I'm also back on mweb... most stable and good quality bandwidth (and peering), it's a pity it's higher in price than the rest, and I think mweb can afford to knock a few bucks off their packages, but amongst all that's available currently, I must say mweb is the best - web africa could be up there but their rolling caps are ridiculous.
